This is an interesting video response by someone that many here will hate. The original video is by Contrapoints, who I disagree with much of the time but I respect.

I honestly think that both are 75+% correct in their assessment.

I think the reason is the virtue signalling to the point of abandoning logic and reason, and the simple mantras that both illiberal Feminism and SJW engage in. They can both be very cultish, tribal and authoritarian and lean on faith more than evidence. I see many other similarities to religion as well.

Of course that is the illiberal ones and not all "Feminists" or people who actually work for social justice. I don't think many atheists, even the very conservative ones, would oppose egalitarianism and fair treatment regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.

ETA: After listening to the clip you posted, I am in total agreement with the speaker.

What is your 25% disagreement?

You poor dear.

Do the mean liberals accuse you of being racist just because you say and do racist things? That's sooooo unfair! Don't those libtards know that you're a special snowflake that must not be criticized?

Do you need a tissue? I have a whole box if you need a tissue.

You have nothing to add to this conversation and just stepped in to try to demonize me? Thanks for the timely example of my point. All you missed is a "get behind me Satan".

True. It's what causes far leftists to sympathize with e.g. all Muslims. The types who, if you point out the horrible mistreatment of women in those countries, will call you racist or an ist of some kind or another. They're fucking insufferable.

But that's all they are. They're not actually dangerous because they hold no power. There's no equivalent Tea Party on the left in the U.S., so the result is a disparate, bizarrely inconsistent and incoherent gaggle of individuals who manage to annoy, but not a lot else. Well, they do manage to fire conservatives up like a teenage boy on 5,000 milligrams of viagra. Man, do they love that shit; nothing better than some college kids after their first semester of political science shouting down Ann Coulter.

Anyway, that whole "New Atheist" thing was/is lame. There's nothing new about atheism, nor is there anything new about it being largely a progressive thing. Ayn Rand was an atheist though. That was just fucking great. I want to keep being a greedy asshole, but I really can't buy into this magical wizard from the middle east who looks like he could be the 4th guitar player in Lynard Skynard.

Haven't heard of the Justice Democrats yet, have you?

I'd agree with this, except that atheists aren't necessarily progressive. I'm not really sure there was/is an "atheist movement," per se. What we've seen is an expansion of the number of vocal, open atheists, and perhaps even the overall numbers as the internet grew and information was more rapidly and widely spread. There are all sorts of people who call themselves atheists. As we're quick to point out to theists, the lack of belief in god(s) is all that necessarily we have in common with one another. We have liberals and conservatives, progressives, and sexists and racists too, unfortunately. Need I mention Rebecca Watson and 'Elevatorgate'?

What the fuck are you talking about? Do you even read posts any more? Are you a Russian bot?

Yep.
It's the age old Non-Stamp Collectors versus Atheism Plus+ saga.

There does seem to be an extraordinary correlation of agendas between New Atheism and;
- the LGBTQ lobby
- the Pro-Abortion lobby
- the pro-euthanasia lobby
- the legalization of marijuana lobby

Why? Can it really be as simple (irrational/illogical) as the enemy of my enemy is my friend?
