How some Religions promotes Terrorism

First of all, let's realize that there are rational explanations to religious ideas, in fact, ALL ideas

Religions like Christianity and Islam were born when Kings ruled with an iron first - the King was the master of his land, ruled with an iron fist. His subjects were his slaves, their quality and quantity of life was dependent on the king. Brought before the king, these slaves got down on their knees, swore undying loyalty(belief in today's religions), begged for his mercy and protection. If pleased, he will let you stay in his kingdom(Heaven) or you were thrown out or worse(Hell)

These are the same primitive ideas being preached by the dominant religions of the day

We realize that there is one marked difference between Heaven and Earth - Give Vs Earn. Heaven is, as in the King's time, a Top-down society, one man rule, he decides everything and will "give" you joy and happiness. Here on earth, well, we know there is no free lunch. Yes there are Sugar Daddies, but that is demeaning, if you have any self-respect, you struggle with life, earn a honest living, make your own way in life

And that's the appeal of Heaven - that even some Atheists find appealing(when did any Atheist speak out or talk about the above ideas? it took an Atheist Hindu to talk about them) - easy life, a Sugar Daddy God who will keep one in comfort. Why struggle with life? Why not just end it and go enjoy the good life awaiting us? Now you see why religions hastened to add that suicide is a sin! They had to, otherwise they would be promoting death

Now we get to the Terrorist - maybe not so much educated, unhappy with his lot in life, feeling discriminated, wanting to lash out at those who he thinks have wronged him and his people - a person ready to check out of an unhappy life. The very person that an evil religious head is looking for - "Go kill, God will be pleased and you will be rewarded with heaven! enjoy!"

The very idea of Heaven must be put to death - which is why Hinduism came up with the idea of Reincarnation, not very appealing but necessary. As long as people think that they can run away to magic land of plenty, we will have Terrorism, we will have mass killings

Religions are a mirror. People take from them whatever they want to see. The particulars of the teachings aren't altogether relevant to what followers cherry pick out and reinterpret to whatever they decide to have it man to them.

Pretty much; though the practice of suicide bomb attacks (excluding attacks during declared wars) dates back to at least 1881, when a Polish terrorist named Ignacy Hryniewiecki killed Tsar Alexander II in St Petersburg. That attack may well not have been the first, but was the first to gain worldwide attention, due to the high profile of the victim.

er not all Hindus think the same way, not all christians think the same way, not all muslims think the same way. Just because Hinduism doesn't teach that God is a Master, you can beg and grovel your way to heaven etc doesn't mean some Hindus won't kill to get their way. The motivation is not always what i wrote about - some are motivated by their goals - those Hindu terrorists killed because they wanted a free state. But religion can add an incentive - that was my point

There is quite a large body of Christian doctrine (from scripture) which holds that worshipping men and the traditions of men is blasphemous idolatry. Many/most of the prophets in the bible set themselves AGAINST politics and kings.

No I think the root cause of the problem is with bad theology (hypocrisy) and earthly power politics rather than any doctrine of the afterlife. Because if what you say was true Islam would have run out of suicide bombers long before now.

Religion is not one set of ideas, not everyone follows all the ideas. But the King seen as a divine power is there in christianity. Also i didn't say christians were worshipping humans, but they did use the King as a Template for God. All our ideas come out of life - our experiences in life - the ancients made Gods as they experienced life - they knew life under a King, there was no democracy, under the king, you lived life bent over, on your knees and it was the King who decided whether one had a good life or not. Speak out against the King and you were asking for it - those are the ideas that you see in religions like islam and christianity. The sad thing is that now we don't live under kings, strongmen, we have democracy, freedom of speech and yet our dominant religions are the ones stuck in the past

Why didn't Osama fly the plane? He was angry with the west for what he perceived as supporting the Saudi Kings - he had no desire to kill himself - he was rich - he had a good life. For all the talk that religious people say about heaven and how wonderful it is, you see no one in a hurry to end this life, however awful it may be. It takes a special person to kill himself - one who is so dejected by life and is looking for a way out and religions are happy to supply him with the necessary push

See all those people braving the sea to get to Europe? As long as there is some hope of life, people will cling to it. People are not fools - even on death bed no one is ready to move on regardless of all the nice sayings of religion on how nice heaven will be - deep down people know that there is zero evidence of any such lands, they know it is a fantasy - which is why people cling to life so hard - the saying that there are no Atheists in fox holes is not true, actually there are no theists when death comes calling, no one is ever ready to go. Life has to be really bad and hate must be so much and some of these suicide bombers have been paid - they come from poverty and they are told that if they kill themselves, their families will get money and so that is another incentive but the one that pushes them over the edge is the hope that they will get to enjoy heaven - finally have the good life that they never had
