There is certainly the 100 day thing for a new President. Momentum and what not. Then the first six months. And now as we head towards the end of Biden's first year we see internal squabbling between a few conservative and poor communicator Democrats and a number of progressive and ill-minded Democrats. But this squabbling isn't actually the real problem. Elections are! No, not democracy, but US election cycles. There is a rush to get this passed by Xmas, because historically things shut down after that point because we enter another ridiculous election cycle. Yes, there is the whole US economic calamity if the debt ceiling isn't either raised or ignored, but in general, it gets much harder to vote on things in the second year of a house term.
Recently in Canada, people were complaining whether the election results (near matching with the previous one) was worth the 30 to 40 days for their election cycle. Our election cycle is 12 months!
