Is Incinerating People Un-Islamic? Un-Christian?

I heard several reports on the news that some Muslim "clerics" had opined that ISIL's burning of the Jordanian pilot was "un-islamic". So, mindful of the Christian burnings of witches, Servetus, 6 million or so Jews (albeit mostly posthumously), thousands by auto da fe during the Inquisition, and the occasional gay person these days, I went to my favorite source for all the nasty bits of the holy books, The Skeptics Annotated Bible/Quran/Book of Mormon.

The Quran did not yield much encouragment to the people in funny hats with matches, it, like the Bible leaves a lot of burning to the god. But there was this:

Surah22:19: These twain (the believers and the disbelievers) are two opponents who contend concerning their Lord. But as for those who disbelieve, garments of fire will be cut out for them; boiling fluid will be poured down on their heads,
22:20 Whereby that which is in their bellies, and their skins too, will be melted;

This as well as several other similar suggested punishments may be interpreted as a call to action before the death of the unbeliever.

But, as usual, the Judeo-Christian tradition leads the world in utter ruthlessness and sadism.

The SAB has a whole section on burnings by and specifically directed by the god. Here are the first couple of relevant verses. There are more...:devil-smiley-029:

"If a man take a wife and her mother, it is wickedness: they shall be burnt with fire, both he and they; that there be no wickedness among you." -- Leviticus 20:14

"And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire." -- Leviticus 21:9

"Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the harlot; and also, behold, she is with child by whoredom. And Judah said, Bring her forth, and let her be burnt." -- Genesis 38:24

"He that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath. ... And Joshua ... took Achan ... and his sons, and his daughters ... And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire." -- Joshua 7:15, 24-25

And of course there was gentle JC's instruction to his followers not to deviate from the old laws by one jot or tittle...It's funny how they do tend to forget that one.

If you're putting the blocks to your wife and her mother, you've got punishment enough.
But, c'mon, Christian eavesdroppers, tell us how these verses demonstrate yet again God's beneficent nature. We've heard you preach on how flooding the world and drowning all the evil men/women/rugrats/babies/chipmunks was an act of righteousness.

Well, if one of your whores gets with child, the feminazi judges could stick you with child support payments. By having her burnt before the child is born, God is helping to stop men from being oppressed.

The faithful already agree that it's good and just that their skybeast sends people to burn in hell for eternity for finite crimes against the skybuddy.
And there's no verse that says the right to set people aflame is reserved alone to the god of their fathers.
Clearly, then, fire is a good thing, esp. for crimes that will make the baby Jesus cry.

Oh, that's easy. They'll just insist that everything in the Old Testament is wrong, unless they need to use it as an excuse to persecute women and homosexuals.
