Is There a Difference in Speed between USB ports

There could be. I have seen cases with USB 3.0 ports in back and USB 2.0 ports in front.

USB 3.0 ports are blue (that is, the piece of plastic that the USB cable hooks onto is blue).
 
It's possible. Something weird goes on with my Canon printer/scanner sometimes. The scanner often won't work when plugged into a USB port in the back, but when I switch it to the front, it will work. Still haven't figured that one out. Kind of annoying as I don't like that cable hanging out the front. I'd rather use my front USB ports for thumb drives, etc.

Print function seems to work fine whether plugged in front or back, though.
 
I bet the problem is not a big enough power supply
