It appears CNN IS Fake News

What tipped me off to the CNN is fake news thing was then Trump was running as a candidate and said his infamous "their not sending their best... their rapists... and some I assume are good people" line. CNN didn't address that for what it said and his obvious intent of it. He was talking about illegal immigrants crossing the border, and called them criminals, rapists, etc. He was wrong when he said that and should have been called out for it. Illegal immigrants to the US from Mexico actually have lower crime rates than naturally born citizens of the US.

But that isn't where CNN went with this. Instead CNN and most other media spun it as if he had said Mexicans in general are criminals, rapists, bad hombres, etc. I've been keeping an eye on them since and they've repeated this sort of lazy reporting / spin to match their narrative again and again and not just with him.

I now put CNN just a few rungs below Fox in the fake news category. US news in general is pretty bad. Your best source for news on US events will usually be a foreign news source, like BBC or CBC etc, as they are less likely to have a reason to be biased.
Here is Trump's infamous quote:

The US has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems. Thank you. It's true, and these are the best and the finest. When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best. They're not sending you. They're not sending you. They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.

If one presumes that the immigrants roughly mirrors the Mexican population, then it follows he is slamming Mexicans as a group. That is simple reasoning.

Given Mr. Trump's lack of precision, difficulty with facts and problems with using words, one can argue that it is not a wise move to pay too much attention to any particular utterance. But, it is poor reasoning to clam that CNN is akin to fake news when CNN was just using simple reasoning even if the reasoning was based on incorrect but reasonable premise.

Your presumption isn't granted. That's the point. He wasn't talking about Mexicans. He was talking about illegal immigrants from Mexico.CNN skips to that presumption and reaches that conclusion because it fits their narrative. They are fake news and put up headlines like "Trump says Meixcans are Rapits"

I would say he was stupid for saying it as he said it, but it occurs to me that in doing so he played both part of his base and CNN. He played some racists in his base who just saw "Mexican" and "Rapist" in the same block of text, and he played CNN and other news media who did the same and who screamed outrage, giving Trump the free press he needed to vault himself into the spotlight and then take the presidency.

I think he knows that CNN will twist his words so he deliberately throws out key words for them to feed on, and then calls them Fake News, and relies on his base to see how they twisted it so they agree. That then immunizes them from taking anything accurate the news reports. It is a clever way to shield himself.

Donald Trump said:

They're bringing drugs, they're bringing crime. They're rapists and some, I assume, are good people, but I speak to border guards and they're telling us what we're getting.
Presidential announcement speech, June 16th, 2015

He wasn't talking about Mexicans.
Repeating that "he was talking about the illegal immigrants" is redundant, incorrect, and misses the point. First it is redundant because no one said he wasn't. Second, it is incorrect because he was talking about all immigrants.. Third, it misses the point because it is reasonable conclusion based on a reasonable presumption the immigrants from Mexico mirror the population of Mexico.

Mexico wasn't sending anybody.

Mexico is a capitalist shit hole.

Millions live in squalor.

Of course many try to leave.

BFD.

I'm not surprised that he 'wanted Trump to win'....FFS, he can control Trump. He had no such success with the opponent.

Just how fucking stupid are you, any way, barbos?

Apparently less stupid than you, cause you have not watched the video.
Speaking of fucking stupid, In the same press conference Trump says that Putin denied meddling, yet news lady and subsequently Steven Colbert whom I love both insist on this stupidity :)

Okay...so you are profoundly stupid.

As per Rex Tillerson's assessment of the Cheeto Benito.

Why am I not surprised?

You're nothing but another shit for brains cultist.

Mexico wasn't sending anybody.

Mexico is a capitalist shit hole.

Millions live in squalor.

Yeah. Squalor is everywhere these days.

Every major city seems to be hosting shitholes all the time.

They are Trump properties. Each and every one a shithole.

You want to see a 'capitalist shithole', go check out Puerto Rico.

That's a shithole created by the GOP and the fuckwit-in-chief in the Oval Office.

The natural result of capitalism is luxury for some and squalor for most.

Capitalist Mexico. Capitalist Haiti. Capitalist Guatemala, capitalist Indonesia.

The list goes on.

The only thing that has ever been shown to prevent this are strong unions.

That is what reduced the squalor in the US and Europe.

But in the US the power of unions is almost dead.

And as we see the squalor advances as a result.

I wonder if the folks in Appalachia would like to go back to being paid in scrip and getting beat up or killed by company mercenaries (or the bought and paid off local police) if they got too uppity about it? That's when America was truly great when coal employed 10X the current number and those employees were pretty much owned by the company.

Has anyone listened to all the hyperbole in the RT video?

It is Russian state run propaganda. The American right wing is gleefully participating.

This is so much stupidity and desperation from the opponents of Trump.

The stupid Americans voted for Trump.

It is their fault. The Russians had nothing to do with it.

The US meddles and has meddled in too many elections to count.

It is sheer hypocrisy to cry about some meddling from Russia.

The difference being that we live in the US. In a so-called free society, we have the right to know if our elected leader is a has a quid pro quo relationship with an enemy (maybe enemy is too strong?) who helped elect him. IMO, we are very very lucky that all this Russian connection to our election was outed. I believe that Trump was compromised and that he owes Putin for something. My theory is that Putin was his bank. I believe further that Putin's goal is to destablish Nato and gobble up a few more countries.

There is no difference anywhere.

Trump has great impact on my life. This coming trade war is going to increase the cost of my major raw material. 40% of my sales are to Europe. We've already gotten notice from our reps in Europe that tariffs are coming on our product. I have several kids close to draft age. I think that Trump's crap is making the world less safe. That might lead to my kids fighting an unnecessary war in the future. I think that the trade war could lead us into a recession. There's no doubt that the rightward shift of the supreme court is going to dramatically increase the power of the religious right. And etc. and etc. I feel bad that the US meddled in Venezuela. I wish that we'd stay out of their troubles. But what happens there has very little impact on me. Do understand the difference?

I don't know if I'd guess he is his bank, but he definitely has something on him. Maybe the pee pee tape. Maybe money laundering. Its hard to know, and we may or may not ever find out.

I was watching Colbert and he was talking about how Putin during press conference admitted that he meddled in US elections
The only thing I found is RT talking about it, so close your noses you dirty Russo-fobes :)

Anyway, to make story short, I can attest you that Putin only said "I wanted Trump to win"
CNN lady insisted that he admitted meddling.

Going back years on the forum I long suspected you were a Russian shill and apologist. Putin is a Stalinist holdove in that , he wants to retake eastern European states as a buffer against the imagined threat of NATO. To that end he tries to destabilize Europe by propaganda and subterfuge, fake news. Fake news is intentionally spreading balant fabrications and untruths.

Sometimes CNN gets it wrong and improperly spins a story, in the long run they generally make corrections. CNN hardley rises to the level of fake news.

Unless the free world intelligence are all lying, Putin is a practiced liar, as is Trump.

How would you compare CNN to Russian state media? I take your OP as an example of intentional fake news creation.
