This is a topic I've harped on a lot. This topic bothers me because a while back Evangelical activists in GRACE pointed out that the fact that the media focuses so much on Catholic examples of child abuse that they were making it easier for Evangelical organizations to hide incidents of child abuse at Evangelical ministries.
The media liked to harp on Catholic incidents of child abuse for a variety of reasons. One of those reasons is that non-Catholic Christians loved using these incidents to heap abuse on Catholics and score cheap points, which led to the above-mentioned problem reported by GRACE. According to the arguments of GRACE, all of this focus on Catholic moral hypocrisy has had the unintended consequence of placing a lot of non-Catholic children at greater risk of being sexually abused.
Which brings us to today's news story.
775. Let that number sink in.
That is utterly outrageous.
Republican politician Jim Jordan will likely face criminal charges for failing to report evidence of one child molester, but this Jehovah's Witness organization hides evidence of 775, and they have to pay a pittance of a fine? Why aren't people in jail or prison for this?
And now, people in Jehovah's Witness organizations are encouraging Jehovah's Witnesses to destroy evidence of even more horrors.
Tell me again how Christianity causes people to become morally superior? Here come the no true Scotsman fallacies and special pleading!

article said:Last year a judge in California fined the Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, the Jehovah’s Witnesses corporate, non-profit, $2,000 for refusing to release documents that detail information about 775 suspected child molesters within the organization.
