John McCain Has Cancer

Huh? Trump is a vile asshole, I'd have no trouble wishing on him and his sociopathic family.

In spite of my TDS, I can't go there. Not that he doesn't deserve it, or worse.

I was with you until you said he deserves it. I really don't think he does, but I don't think anybody deserves good or bad things as result of what they do. Like everybody else, Trump does what he does because of who he is, and nobody is responsible for who they are. Who we are is something that, by and large, happens to us. Which is all just a roundabout way of saying I think determinism makes it irrational to hate anybody.

We may not be responsible for who we are, but we are responsible for what we do, particularly when it involves others. Your circular logic is unconvincing.

That I don't hope for a miserable end for Trump is more about the kind of person I try to be, not the kind of person he is.

And determinism is irrational. If your point was true, the word epiphany wouldn't exist.

Depends? Do you believe in concepts justice? What do you think "Justice" should entail? Wishing a horrible end on someone isn't in itself a statement on your moral or ethical integrity. In principle, I agree with you but these are things I do think about lately. Would it be just for Trump and his immediate cohorts to suffer? If so, then where is the shame in wishing it upon them? If not, then why? I'm not being rhetorical, I'd like answers.

I prefer to think about things other than the cruel deaths of those I dislike.

Whether or not there is shame in wishing pain on Trump is for you to decide.

Then nobody is responsible for hating anybody.

Could you clarify that? I don't see the connection.

Not if what we do flows in large part from who we are.

I'm on board with that.

And there's no "I" then neither.

He already survived skin cancer. Remember back in 2000 when his jaw was swollen to the size of his head? Maybe he is out of touch because he did vote last year to block additional cancer research.

I guess that's a win for karma.
