Ken Ham group sells Ark Encounter to itself in Tax Fraud attempt

The group that owns the theme park Ark Encounters have sold the park to their nonprofit affiliates for 10 dollars to avoid paying taxes, according to a report Monday by the Lexington Herald-Leader. The Christian theme park in Williamstown, Kentucky is owned by creationist Ken Ham and features a life-sized recreation of Noah's Ark.

Ark Encounter LLC sold the park's land on June 28 to its nonprofit affiliate, Crosswater Canyon, for ten dollars, just a day before the city sent a letter rejecting the organization's request to be exempted from a new safety tax because of its religious affiliation.

What a bunch of con-artists. Granted, the State and Local officials fucked up in giving them tax exemption in the first place.

They could have fired her for not doing her job, or they could champion her right to keep her job AND not perform it. They chose to support her rather than isolate themselves from her.
Hopefully some of the proceeds from the t-shirts with Kim's picture on them will be available to help pay the costs...

Firing her would have required a Legislative act. Though, launching her out of a cannon would have just required a requisition form to get the cannon.

Yes. And they didn't do that.
They didn't even make noise about 'next time we're in session we'll do that.'
They didn't write letters to her and her fellow clerks stating that their job was to obey the fucking law of the land, not to decide which laws she would or would not obey.
They changed the forms to protect her belief that her job came a la carte.

So, they're now holding the bag that they helped fill.
