L.P.D.: Libertarian Police Department

It was claimed that this is an accurate illustration of libertarian principles, so it seems fair to ask which principles those are.

I am not the one who claimed these principles are in there. I can't answer your question until someone tells me what these principles are.

Sure you can. If you have knowledge of Libertarian principles, you can tell us what you think is inaccurate without someone telling you what they are. If you don't, then I suggest you familiarise yourself with them before accusing anyone else of inaccuracy.

A knowledge of libertarian principles actually prevents us from finding any in that story.

You Don't Know What "Libertarian" Means

A new poll from Pew Research found that only 11 percent of those surveyed who identified themselves as libertarian were correctly able to identify the very basic meaning of libertarianism as "someone whose political views emphasize individual freedom by limiting the role of government."

Weirdly, that same poll found that 41 percent of libertarians believe that the government should regulate business, 46 percent of libertarians believe that corporations make too much profit, and 38 percent of libertarians believe that government aid to the poor is a good thing.

I really don't think anybody should be blamed if they don't know what the hell Libertarians believe.

Which principles would those be?

Among others, the government does not prevent you speaking or having all the buttsex you want.

I dont think preventing you from speaking or having all the buttsex you want is a principle in socialism either... So you live in a socialist state now?

The ongoing inability of some people on this forum to grasp what libertarians actually believe is quite an embarrassment.
Well, it is obviously a joke. Just because all the self described libertarians I know (including myself), also think that policing is an appropriate role for the state, doesn't make it a bad joke.

When did that happen? In the 1990's a privatized police force was very seriously discussed by Libertarians: https://mises.org/journals/jls/14_1/14_1_5.pdf

Obviously, either you don't understand libertariansim or else those people are ignorant of libertarianism.

Please tell me that you are joking.

In case you are not, I understand libertarianism very well. I understand the history of it, the variations of it, and the big "L" political versions of it that have been popular in the USA. I have seen it swing leftish, and rightish. I was a card-carrying member of the big "L" in the USA from 1978 until just before the second Bush election. I worked on the Harry Browne campaign. I suspect I know quite a bit more about libertarianism that the majority of people who currently claim the label.

LOL…I know full well that there are libertarians who hold such extreme views. That is not a point I brought up. I meant those that I personally know, like myself (Though I realize that I didn’t make that perfectly clear in my post).
It is kind of like many progressives do not support communism, like William Du Bois did.
It is kind of like how many greens do not support eco terrorism, yet some do.

If you want to debate some particular view of Mises.org (or writer there), I suspect you could find someone to respond if you started such a thread…

The problem is, so-called libertarians don't know what it means.
A new poll from Pew Research found that only 11 percent of those surveyed who identified themselves as libertarian were correctly able to identify the very basic meaning of libertarianism as "someone whose political views emphasize individual freedom by limiting the role of government."
Similarly, of the so-called libertarians polled, 42 percent believe that police should be able to stop and search people who "look like criminals," and 26 percent think "homosexuality should be discouraged."
