8 arrested after windows smashed at Democratic Party of Oregon building in Northeast Portland

Far-left, anti-police demonstrators smashed windows at the Democratic Party of Oregon building in Northeast Portland Wednesday afternoon. The vandalism took place just hours following President Joe Biden's inauguration.

The group responsible for the damage marched through parts of Southeast and Northeast Portland. They first gathered at 2 p.m. at Revolution Hall in Southeast Portland, where they were met by police officers on bikes.

Eight people were arrested in connection with the demonstration, according to Portland police. Their charges ranged from criminal mischief, to possession of a destructive device, to riot, to reckless burning. While making the arrests, officers recovered batons, irritant spray, Molotov cocktails, knives and a crowbar, police said.

As I said repeatedly, Antifas deem anybody not as far left as them to be fascist and thus subject to violence.

do you see differences between protesting for racial/social justice, far-left marches, and attempting to overturn election results? do you see a difference in breaking windows at an ICE facility or courthouse and breaking into the fucking capitol while electoral votes are being counted? do we just need to equate all the things all the time? i view all of those as different even if some form of violence happens at each.

to be fair many of us Seattleites have wanted to smash the windows of that startbucks before. the coffee is gross and the idiots who stand in line for over an hour to go into a starbucks are often in the way for the locals trying to walk through the market.

OTOH, I have no trouble at all imagining right wing extremists doing that - or virtually anything else - if they thought they could discredit people who are opposed to the fascism they embrace.

Q blubber? I'm less interested in who is eating who (both sides do it obviously), and more interested in seeing how the rioting can (or will) be curbed under the new administration. There is currently a lot of anti-police, anti-arresting, pro-"protesting" attitude amongst the left. So, it seems any use of force by local law enforcement or the Feds will not go over well. What options are left? Yell "Stop" in a megaphone, and if they ignore it, yell "Stop" even louder?

Regardless, looks like the usual fake anarchists to me. They're anti-fascist, technically, but they're just generally anti-whoever. I agree on abolishing ICE - they're a iostake stemming from 9/11 reforms as I recall - but that's not actually an endorsement of most of what the "anarchists" do.
