The thing about this passage from Matthew 19 is that the subject is divorce, not "what constitutes marriage." What's most interesting to me is that Jesus misquotes Genesis 2. It wasn't "God" who said "Therefore shall a man leave ..." it was Adam.

:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

This passage never even mentions marriage. That's reading something into the text that isn't there.

The passage no more implies that a wife has to be of the opposite sex than it implies that a wife has to be cloned from genetic material taken from the husband. Both are elements of the story, neither are implicit restrictions on future application.

I've never seen a baby born where the parents say, "it has a penis! But, we can't say this is a male yet. We have to wait to see if the baby identifies as a male first." Have you seen this phenomena anywhere?

I always see, "It's a boy!" or "it's a girl!" I never heard, "Let's wait. We don't know for sure yet."

Because, I've been trying to come up with a good, consistent reason why the 69 year old Dutch guy should not get to change his birth certificate as regards his age (because he feels younger) while someone else can do it for their gender, and I can't think of one.
