Michael Flynn Calls for a Coup Like Myanmar

 
 
 
I used to think that calling for the violent overthrow of the government was a crime.

Flynn's brother had a part in the treason on Jan 6th.
 
18 U.S.C. 2385:

Whoever knowingly or willfully advocates, abets, advises, or teaches the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying the government of the United States or the government of any State, Territory, District or Possession thereof, or the government of any political subdivision therein, by force or violence, or by the assassination of any officer of any such government; or

Whoever, with intent to cause the overthrow or destruction of any such government, prints, publishes, edits, issues, circulates, sells, distributes, or publicly displays any written or printed matter advocating, advising, or teaching the duty, necessity, desirability, or propriety of overthrowing or destroying any government in the United States by force or violence, or attempts to do so; or

Whoever organizes or helps or attempts to organize any society, group, or assembly of persons who teach, advocate, or encourage the overthrow or destruction of any such government by force or violence; or becomes or is a member of, or affiliates with, any such society, group, or assembly of persons, knowing the purposes thereof—

Shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

If two or more persons conspire to commit any offense named in this section, each shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both, and shall be ineligible for employment by the United States or any department or agency thereof, for the five years next following his conviction.

As used in this section, the terms “organizes” and “organize”, with respect to any society, group, or assembly of persons, include the recruiting of new members, the forming of new units, and the regrouping or expansion of existing clubs, classes, and other units of such society, group, or assembly of persons.

A true traitor. He lives on a military pension and he wants the government overthrown. Down in Florida, the orange Magaturd is now telling people he will be "reinstated" in August. Fuck. FUCK. At this point, I think there is no way to negotiate or do any kind of work with the GOP. The demographics are against them, but we don't have enough time for them to erode into inconsequentiality.

I read that whole wall of law. He ticks off multiple boxes of it and every box seems rightful law.

Derec? Jason Harvestdancer? James Madison? Metaphor?

My money says we won't see them in here until page 3 and there's some technically incorrect thing someone here said that they can complain about instead of talking about whether Flynn committed Sedition.

Then again what do I care, all but Derec are muted for me at this point...

Yes, what he said is treason. And he's ex-military. He is required to follow the UCMJ. And we know that there are many other soldiers and ex-soldiers who agree with him. This needs to be nipped in the bud, and a precedent set. He needs to be arrested.
 
Repubs, this is your cue. The new HUAC, let's get on it!! Here's a guy who actually -- not metaphorically -- called for the violent overthrow of the government. But -- aw shucks, he's a Trump terrorist. Stand down and stand by.
 
One thing is certain. Decades from now when U.S. History is taught, 2016 (the election of DJT) will join the set of America's five worst years: 1861 (War), 1929 (Crash), 1933 (Depression), 1941 (War), "ahead" of other bad years like1963 (JFK shot), 2008 (Housing Crash), 2020 (Covid).

What's frustrating and horrid is that the GOP leaders are almost unanimous in endorsing Trump and his lies. (Only Liz took a stand. Romney, Murkowski only roll their eyes. Frankly I think if those two Rs had a microgram of integrity they'd vote to end the filibuster, and support HR.1.)

If I were in the WH, I'd invite Manchin and Whats-hername and invite them to be co-equal partners in agenda finalization. Biden, Schumer, Pelosi and these two D hold-outs. BUT, all members of this agenda-setting troika would take a pledge, to follow its majority decision.

Meanwhile I meet with Romney, making him the same offer, in case Manchin doesn't come through. Could he get Murkowski to join him?

I would then ask Schumer and Kamala Harris to put a vote for abolition of the filibuster, at least of duration adequate to pass HR.1. Anyone opposed to this in the present situation supports GOP cheating and making USA un-democratic.

I would announce in advance that if the measure didn't get the fifty votes, it would mean that 51 Senators were criminal traitors. If the military refused to support me, I would resign in disgust and despair, turning the nuclear codes over to Betsy DeVos or whatever it is. (Hmmm. OTOH maybe it's just as well I'm not the Potus.)

Yes. The GOP and its persona have gone down the rabbit hole AND through the looking glass. Imagine how a 1990's political thriller would have sold with a plot like this!

Hilarious as it all is, it is also part of a tragedy of epic scope.
