Donald Trump came to the Detroit Economic Club and stood there in front of Ford Motor executives and said "if you close these factories as you're planning to do in Detroit and build them in Mexico, I'm going to put a 35% tariff on those cars when you send them back and nobody's going to buy them." It was an amazing thing to see. No politician, Republican or Democrat, had ever said anything like that to these executives, and it was music to the ears of people in Michigan and Ohio and Pennsylvania and Wisconsin - the "Brexit" states.

You live here in Ohio, you know what I'm talking about. Whether Trump means it or not, is kind of irrelevant because he's saying the things to people who are hurting, and that's why every beaten-down, nameless, forgotten working stiff who used to be part of what was called the middle class loves Trump. He is the human Molotov Cocktail that they've been waiting for; the human hand grande that they can legally throw into the system that stole their lives from them.

They see that the elite who ruined their lives hate Trump. Corporate America hates Trump. Wall Street hates Trump. The career politicians hate Trump. The media hates Trump, after they loved him and created him, and now hate.

Is that really Michael Moore?

Uh, yeah. Why wouldn't it be?

Because the way it works it people are not allowed to hold nuanced views on complicated issues. We require people to have starkly black and white views on every issue so that we can easily fit them into neatly labelled boxes.

There are two kinds of people - those with nuanced views, and those without. Period.
:p

Moore is bang on here. This is one of the main reasons people love Trump. It isn't all just about being a xenophobe racist etc. It is also a giant middle finger to the establishment politicians that people really really want. If Trump was a little less bombastic and wasn't constantly in twitter battles with complete side issues and didn't have a rape scandal on the go, I think he could have won this election. And I think a smart politician is going to see that and do exactly this next time around, and after 4 years of Hillary Establishment Insider Clinton, that person has a VERY good chance to win, be they a Democrat primarying her or a Republican running against her in the general.

Moore does seem have much better insight into what is driving the Trump movement than the political pundits in either party or the MSM. According to what he said on Meet the Press a couple weeks ago, He fears that Trump could very well carry the election and surprise the "experts".

The news media does seem to think that sex scandals are what will decide the election but the electorate in general are more concerned with corruption and meat/potatoes issues.

There is a strong impetus to burn it all down and start over. THAT is the real driving force behind Trump's success. It is also why Bernie did so well. I wonder if that day will come and how far away it is.

Don't you mean he agrees with what either of you think is driving the Trump movement? So, how do you know what is driving it?

No. I mean what I wrote.
So, how do you know what is driving it?
"Know" is a loaded word. But what is driving those who are attending Trump's rallies is indicated by what they say when they are interviewed by news reporters who are questioning them with open questions rather than leading questions.

You said, "Moore does seem have much better insight into what is driving the Trump movement than the political pundits in either party or the MSM." What makes his insight more correct?

You apparently didn't read my post completely. What Moore sees as driving the Trump movement is what those attending Trump's rallies say they want when reporters interview them with open questions.
