Two weeks ago, the right-wing media championed the cause of patriot Bundy, the simple straw-hatted cattle rancher who wanted the federales to get off his land—I mean, off federal land—and to surrender their guns. He was the new face of American freedom. He was Gandhi! Thoreau, even! But, as Adam Nagourney discovered in a New York Times interview with the old Nevada cowpoke published last night, Bundy's just another unreconstructed peckerwood with a shitload of guns and a lot of love for that peculiar institution of our forefathers

I find it deliciously ironic that some of his newly former supporters on the right wing are now howling that guilt by association with this guy is unfair, despite the fact that guilt by association is and long has been one of their preferred methods of attacking Barack "OMG his middle name is HUSSEIN!!!" Obama.

"Palling around with terrorists" anyone?

Are you suggesting that this man is somehow racist because he said that?

Oh my gosh, stop destroying his first amendment rights! Why do you communo-fascist Islamo-atheists always taking away people's free speech rights? Why do you hate our freedom so much? Reverse racism! Political correctness! Racialism! Race card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [/conservolibertarian]

Are you suggesting that there is something wrong with this heroic and patriotic rancher who is trying to defend us from the jack-booted thugs in the Obama Socialist Republic of America? [/conservolibertarian]

Isn't this the stuff that black conservatives say all the time? Don't they always talk about how the Democrats want the blacks on a “government plantation?”

So...some random white guy who mooches off the government for a large amount of money, is upset that he thinks that there are are black people who mooch off the government for a small amount of money?

Sounds about normal...

(No offense to white Americans but...)

It doesn't count as "mooching off the government" if a rich white conservative does it! It only counts as "mooching off the government" when poor minorities do it! How many times do we have to explain this to you? Please stop persecuting white people like that! [/conservolibertarian]

No.

It isn't.

But please feel free to find a black conservative who believes black folk were happier as slaves and that our be contribution to work is picking cotton.

I believe most reporters begin salivating whenever they hear this in an interview: “I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro...”

If poor blacks have babies, they are welfare queens. If poor blacks abort babies, they are abortion factories. Picking cotton, having a family life, and doing things... what exact things were they doing when they were slaves, other than picking cotton? It certainly wasn't getting an education, something this guy clearly didn't receive.

First, this rancher denies recognizing the federal gov't while waving an American Flag.

Now, this gov't subsidized rancher complains about negroes that he assumes receives gov't subsidies.

Truly an impressive patriot.

He'd need to be flying the Confederate battle flag... in Nevada... for the trifecta.

To be fair, he stopped paying the subsidized grazing fee, he is merely an unsubsidized thief.

Bundy just keeps right on talking

BUNDY: I took this boot off so I wouldn’t put my foot in my mouth with the boot on. Let me see if I can say something. Maybe I sinned and maybe I need to ask forgiveness and maybe I don’t know what I actually said. But you know, when you talk about prejudice, we’re talking about not being able to exercise what we think and our feelings. We don’t have freedom to say what we want. If I call — if I say negro or black boy or slave, I’m not — if those people cannot take those kind of words and not be offended, then Martin Luther King hasn’t got his job done then yet. They should be able to — I should be able to say those things and they shouldn’t offend anybody. I didn’t mean to offend them.

Better off in slavery? Really? Compared to today, whether on welfare or not?

Let's see:
  1. Working for the benefit of others, for nothing in return.
  2. Beatings if you didn't do what was wanted.
  3. Beatings or death if you tried to escape.
  4. Rape if you were a woman.
  5. Forced breeding, both sexes, but greater burden on women.
  6. Castration if you had sex with a white woman, even if she was agreeable to it. (or being suspected of said sex)
  7. Violence for looking at a white woman the wrong way, which persisted well past slavery.
  8. Not being able to quit, regardless of the circumstances.
  9. Being sold as livestock.
  10. No recognition of family among slaves, with marriage between them illegal.

Doesn't sound like slavery was better. More like a fate worse than death. Some people need not only to think before they open their mouths, but reassess their beliefs. They're morally repugnant, regardless of the time where such beliefs were held.

Well duh. He didn't think they could be offended, as he doesn't think they have feelings or motivations. But it isn't their fault... it is government's fault for creating the black Eloi.
