Labor is ousting the Liberals. So far the have 46 seats, 47 are needed to have a majority. 8 seats at present are still not decided. NSW is Australia's most populous state. The conservatives at present have 29 seats.

Labor is now in charge of the federal government and every state government on mainland Australia. Tasmania is full of inbreds so they don't count. Dominic Perrottet is setting himself up for a career in SKY News and the heatwave in NSW has stopped as well. All in all it was a fucking great weekend. The only downer was that I voted in the afternoon so I didn't get my Democracy Sausage.

Now the semi serious post.

That's a nice little wish list but if Labor becomes a minority government it's going to be very important to manage expectations. I'm also very curious if investigations into Barilaro/Berejiklian government get resurrected but I'm realistic enough to view that as a "I want a unicorn" sort of wish. A bit of concern is how successful One Nation was at rebranding themselves this election (for Americans One Nation is like the Freedom Caucus without Trump slogans*). They are coming off as disgruntled former Labor politicians when in reality they are still very much, "I want to party likes it's 1959 (and say gook)".

But the best win is that there is now going to be government accountability again. I've mentioned many times how slanted the Australian media is politically (just use the search button on this forum with the words "Murdoch" and "Costello" and my name) and they're going to pummel the Minns Government with every opportunity. That's not even remotely fair and I couldn't give less of a shit. I put Labor ahead of Green for the first time in a while (Lower House, still voted for Socialist Alliance in senate) but the party I vote for isn't my fucking football team. These motherfuckers work for me. So I'm fine with them getting their worked checked on every step of the way. I certainly would like Australian media to be more politically neutral but like I said before - unicorns. A government that is under constant scrutiny is a damn fine compromise.

*For the Americans the political party in Australia with Trump slogans is Clive Palmer's "Clive Palmer's United Australia Party", which is lead by Clive Palmer.

One adavantage is that the Labour states and the Commonwealth can't complain that it is all the Liberals fault. They now own the sandpit. Though Andrews in Victoria still blames Kennett and he left in 1999 so it won't stop much.
