New Star Trek Series In Trouble

I just love Star Trek technobabble and hand-waving. I think they use it masterfully. It's always with a wink and a nod when they're off the deep end.

That was one thing I found annoying about TNG, it became the sub-atomic particle/radiation of the week to solve the problems. Technobable to explain away advanced technology, or the cause of a problem is ok. But it started becoming a crutch for solving the problems.

Geordi: We could reroute the plot hole through the plasma conduits and discharge it using the deflector dish.

Picard: Make it so.

Riker: Hey Geordi.

Geordi: Yeah?

Riker: Shouldn't the plasma conduits have, oh I don't know, plasma in them?

Geordi: No, that is just a metaphor.
