Split New York City Mayoral Race

To notify a split thread.
And that they're fine with "guilty until proven innocent" if the person is on the left and accused of antisemitism.
It's not just that he is on the Left, but his whole history. From co-founding chapter of the extremist SJP while a college student to his present obsession with wanting to arrest Bibi.
Whenever you claim an organization is "extremist" I take it with a grain of salt.
Whenever Derec says an organization is extremist I look it up and find out that he’s wrong.

Have you really looked into them and think that supporting Islamic terrorism is does not make them extremist?

How a pro-Palestinian campus group became a national lightning rod
NBC News said:
In the days after the Oct. 7 terror attack, the national wing of SJP came under fierce scrutiny for a five-page “toolkit” document distributed to campus chapters. The document referred to the deadly assault as a “historic win for the Palestinian resistance.” The “toolkit” also suggested talking points for SJP chapters, such as: “We as Palestinian students in exile are PART of this movement, not in solidarity with this movement.”

This is related to how you and your Ilk on here refuse to condemn even the most toxic DSA politicians like Adam Hamawy and Avila Chevalier. They are part of your tribe, so they must be defended no matter what, right?

Thanks for the link.

That article proves my point:

Sophie Levitt, a Jewish student at Arizona State University in Tempe, joined the campus chapter of Students for Justice for Palestine when she was a freshman, eager to broaden her worldview after what she describes as a sheltered upbringing in suburban Illinois.

“I learned more about Palestine and how the movement for Palestinian freedom goes along with my own values,” said Levitt, 21, who is now a junior majoring in justice studies and one of the chapter’s key organizers.

In recent weeks, Levitt watched as people across the country — advocacy groups and politicians and fellow student activists — excoriated Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), a network of campus groups that are affiliated with a national wing but operate autonomously. In a court filing, the American Civil Liberties Union described the national wing as a “coalition and networking group for SJPs and other like-minded groups on college campuses across the nation.”
Free speech advocates and civil liberties organizations argue that the crackdowns on SJP chapters in Florida amount to unconstitutional infringements on the First Amendment. Meanwhile, some rank-and-file SJP members say their activism has been wrongly punished and incorrectly conflated with the national committee’s rhetoric.

“We don’t meet with them, we don’t really communicate with them, we don’t get funds from them,” said Malak Abuhashim, 21, a senior at Cornell University who has family in Gaza and is active in the campus SJP. “It’s not really that close of a relationship.”

The students in the article are not extremists. They don't support terrorism. They want justice and peace in the Middle East and are willing to say so in public.

Of course I refuse to condemn Adam Hamawy and Avila Chevalier. I don't know who they are and I don't condemn people for no reason.

A quick Google search yielded this about them:

Dr. Adam Hamawy and Darializa Avila Chevalier are prominent progressive political figures who won key Democratic congressional primary races in mid-2026. Backed by progressive movements, both ran campaigns heavily centered on universal healthcare, economic affordability, and shifting U.S. foreign policy regarding the Middle East. [1, 2, 3]

Backgrounds and 2026 Primary Wins
    • Dr. Adam Hamawy: A reconstructive trauma surgeon and former U.S. Army combat physician from New Jersey who volunteered in Gaza, winning a crowded primary in New Jersey's 12th Congressional District. [1, 2, 3]
    • Darializa Avila Chevalier: A 32-year-old doctoral student, community organizer, and political newcomer who defeated a long-term incumbent in New York's 13th Congressional District, focusing on renter protections, abolishing ICE, and progressive social safety nets. [1, 2, 3]

Why do you think I should condemn them?

Even if someone is "part of my tribe", why would I know every single member of "my tribe"? That's a lot of people to keep track of.

To be fair, it has funded the largest and most powerful military machine in world history, allowing the USA a global reach and power not seen since the global dominance of the British Empire in the 19th Century.

You know, the military machine that the Iranians are currently laughing at? That one.

[DSA's comment about the $40T debt]
It is pretty rich that it is DSA of all groups that is complaining about that, given that they want to massively expand government spending and that it is DSA politicians who always say that deficit and debt doesn't matter. For example it was the DSA superstar AOC who claimed that it would be no problem to fund her >$60T Green New Deal because the US can just print money.

Politicians like Alexandria Wormtongue and Bernie Sandersman the White also pushed Theoden Biden to the left, especially on spending. They championed the Spendapalooza which would have added a few trillion to the debt given its price tag of $3.5T over ten years.

And while US debt is big, and a major structural problem for our economy, it is certainly not the highest on a per capita basis or as percentage of the GDP. On the latter, Japan is at ~200%. But at least they have the bullet train.

If the Iranians are laughing (and certainly, most of them are not laughing given how oppressive and corrupt their regime is) then it's because of TACO's strategy and not because of our military machine.

That article proves my point:
No it doesn't.

Students offering platitudes does not mean they are not extremists or that they do not support terrorism. Elsewhere it is pretty clear that SJP is an extremist organization that supports terrorist attacks against and even destruction of Israel. Destroying Israel is exactly what they have in mind when they talk about "free Palestine".
parts of the article you conveniently ignore said:
In the days after the Oct. 7 terror attack, the national wing of SJP came under fierce scrutiny for a five-page “toolkit” document distributed to campus chapters. The document referred to the deadly assault as a “historic win for the Palestinian resistance.” The “toolkit” also suggested talking points for SJP chapters, such as: “We as Palestinian students in exile are PART of this movement, not in solidarity with this movement.”

The Anti-Defamation League, one of the most prominent Jewish advocacy groups in the U.S., lambasted SJP for having “explicitly endorsed the actions of Hamas.” The ADL and another Jewish rights group, the Brandeis Center, later called on nearly 200 college presidents to investigate their chapters.

Did you catch that? They see themselves as a PART of the movement that committed the 10/7 atrocities, not merely in solidarity with it (which would have been bad enough). And the SJP "toolkit" linked to in the article talks about the border of Israel being "illegitimate" and to Israel itself as "1948 Palestine".
How can you seriously think these people are not pro-Hamas extremists just because of some platitudes you decided to quote instead?

Of course I refuse to condemn Adam Hamawy and Avila Chevalier. I don't know who they are and I don't condemn people for no reason.
Because they have been nominated as Democratic Party candidates in ultrasafe districts (Hamawy with <30% of the vote btw.) they will be next congresspeople in these districts. And we have discussed both of them when their respective primaries were happening.
A quick Google search yielded this about them:
The AI slop/summary you seem to be quoting is extremely superficial. It is also quoting biased sources, one of them founded by the far-left Israel hater Mehdi Hasan and the other an organ the Erdogan regime in Turkey.

Why do you think I should condemn them?
As I said, we already discussed them. And you could have found the information yourself had you dug a bit deeper than fluff pieces by the likes of Grauniad.

Adam Hamawy was an associate of the terrorist mastermind Omar Abdel-Rahman, aka the Blind Sheikh. He orchestrated the first WTC bombing in the 1990s.
New Jersey Dem Congressional Candidate Testified on Behalf of Terror Mastermind ‘Blind Sheikh’
And even though he is married (and has four children) I could not find any photos of him with his wife. So he is probably one of those Muslims who keeps his wife in a cupboard.

Avila Chevalier is a Muslim convert who is dating a former Al Qaeda lawyer who is now working for the Mamdani regime.
She attended the 10/8/23 pro-Hamas rally in NYC.
Avila Chevalier attended the Oct. 8 pro-Palestinian rally Lander condemned
In the past she also advocated abolishing police and national borders.
Mamdani-backed House candidate's deleted posts called for abolishing police, borders

I am sure you will find ways to defend these two extremists just like you are defending SJP. But I think that Dems need to clean house and have better standards of whom they allow to be Democratic nominees.
