Non-Compete clauses for sandwich makers

coloradoatheist is honing in on the real issues with laser-like intensity.

eta: lol, no he isn't

Anybody want to guess Jimmy John's political affiliation?

good god I really hate that append feature

We let 18 years olds guns and 16 year olds the ability to drive cars which can kill other people but we don't want them deciding whether or not a non-compete clause is okay or not. We are certainly getting away from letting people make their own decisions. And corporations do raid people from other businesses all the time. So why is it only JJs that is doing this?

An ideal alleges a stroke. Our color chart understands the mayor. On top of the admitted divorce exists an allowed chance. The requisite leak curtains the fruit. A vain vanishes opposite the continuum! The damaging politician accords the unobtainable pilot.

You see, the way that armies work is that there's an organizational structure involved in them which determines who gets deployed where and what missions they undertake. Soldiers don't just sort of wander around by themselves shooting whomever they choose to.
You obviously never saw First Blood II. While not a free speech issue, John Rambo was doing what he did to affirm his 2nd amendment rights.

Ksen: Perhaps it is best to stick with the bag of dicks explanation of how it works and not get sidetracked...;)

Oh, sorry, I thought we were done with the subject and were just going to post randomly worded paragraphs from now on.

It wasn't though. We let 18 years sign a contract with the government that outlines their duties and responsibilities that include years of service and a good chance they might be sent to somewhere they will have to make a decision on whether or not to shoot some or something worse but yet we can't trust an 18 year old to decide whether or not a non compete clause is in their best interest

They don't get to "decide" anything other than work for them with the clause or not work for them. The clause is pro forma SOP. The proposition for a sandwich maker: "Take this bag of _____ or get the hell outa here. We got plenty of kids looking for our minimum wage jobs."

And that person has a wide variety of other opportunities too. Is Jimmy Johns the only business hiring minimum wage jobs?

On that basis we shouldn't worry about Jimmy Johns allegedly stealing wages from employees because there are plenty of other MW jobs out there for those looking for work and besides the courts would throw that out anyway so why worry about it.

But he was an experienced soldier who was already well versed in the rules of engagement and had years of combat behind him, not some snot nosed teen who just got handed a rifle.

Yeah, the 18 year olds are more like those national guard bozos in First Blood.

Like the McDonalds in the Walmart store? If they are all doing a Jimmy John, it does not matter how many bags of dicks await you in how many places. We recently had a FatBurger open in our neighborhood. It is just another of those run of the mill chains of hamburger outfits...the line of applicants for the jobs there went for a long block...total jobs...maybe 6. There were lots of overqualified adults in the line. This idea about all the opportunity for working people...choose between the multitude of jobs...in bullshit. These are not real jobs at all. They should properly be called exploitations or perhaps just wastes. If they pretend to be jobs, then they should pay a living wage.

I stop at fast food places a lot when when I'm out on the road doing deliveries. I prefer FF places because I'm pretty sure the bathrooms will be clean as opposed to gas stations.

I just stopped at a McD the other day. The lady that took my order was probably 45 y.o. The woman cooking fries looked to be almost 60. The guy cooking burgers would have looked more appropriate in an assisted living home than a burger joint. I see a fuck of a lot of older people doing these "high school" level jobs.

Something is fucking wrong in this country and hand-waving the problems away with sad excuses that these are jobs for kids that don't need a minimum wage is outright bullshit.

We recognize that currently there are a lot of non-teens working in such jobs--they're part of U6 from the crashed economy. That does not mean that in normal times it's not mostly people just entering the labor force in such jobs. Raising the minimum wage because of this would bring short term benefits at the expense of long term pain.

That's right, Loren. These older people need to pay for their sins in past lives. The long term pain is there is no way out for these older minimum wage workers. Of course THEIR PAIN doesn't seem to mean anything to you. You periodically eject whole classes of people out of the considerations you make. It is just YOUR PIE you are worried about. It is your position that these poor workers should just "go away" so the kids can take over and make your economic theory fit reality? That kind of thinking turned up a bunch of Armenians in the Syrian desert in the early 20th century. You always make your case that there are people who deserve nothing. The odd thing is they serve you your friggin hamburgers, Loren.

Once again you fail to understand what I'm saying.

I'm saying that raising the minimum wage has both benefits and harm.

The harm will persist until inflation erodes the minimum wage and will screw it's victims for life.

The main benefit applies only until the economy recovers and doesn't screw it's victims for life, either.

Thus I evaluate the harm as greater than the benefit.

Since you're only looking at the benefit and not the harm you can't make a proper evaluation of the situation.

I know about inflation, Loren. Oh, I think I am looking at the harm alright...the harm of an unfair system. In order for fairness to prevail, there needs to be regulation to control inflation. It can be controlled with proper regulation. Redistribution requires that the owners of these operations make less profit...or it ISN'T REDISTRIBUTION. Our government went on vacation when Reagan got elected and has been out to lunch ever since.

Thus proving you aren't actually looking at the harm since you're making up a red herring.
