AP News said:A tense Ferguson is awaiting a ruling by the St. Louis County grand jury on whether Officer Darren Wilson should stand trial in the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. Jurors have until January, but the prosecutor's office has said a decision could come in mid-November. For weeks, lawyers, analysts and journalists have speculated on when it will be announced. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon declared a state of emergency Monday as a precaution in the event of unrest or violence. He has also enlisted the support of an unlikely source: NORAD. This mission is unusual as NORAD usually maintains an ever present watch to detect, validate and warn of any atmospheric threat to the United States and Canada. This has brought criticism from Michael Brown supporters who question the further militarization of the police and feel that NORAD should not be involved.
Governor Nixon in a speech on Tuesday defending his calling up of the military stated "Deterrence is the art of producing, in the mind of the enemy, the fear to riot! And the best deterrent is the total annihilation of Ferguson." When asked how such a stance would affect his chances at reelection Gov. Nixon stated, "Dead people cannot vote." Local developers are excited about the possibility of rebuilding Ferguson with the addition of lifestyle centers and abundant parking.
Gen. 'Buck' Turgidson Commander of the Strategic Air Command has vowed to support the Ferguson police and stated, "I can no longer sit back and allow hipster infiltration, liberal indoctrination, thug subversion, and the international thug conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids."
