August 6, 2016 - "The wage growth figures were “a very strong and long awaited improvement” and “indicate that the tide is turning when it comes to worker compensation,” said economist Douglas Holtz-Eakin, president of the conservative-leaning American Action Forum think tank.

Employers are facing pressure to raise wages to attract and retain workers, economists said."

Finally.....a WORKER'S ECONOMY!!!!!
:joy:

Minor improvements over eight years. What a success.

Of course, no one should be surprised to see upticks in the economy when a Dem is on the way out.

Any reason I shouldn't treat these posts exactly like spam emails?

Man, 500,000 job cuts a month to 250,000 jobs created a month. A "slight improvement"?

Tough fucking room!

Well, some people are feeling a bit butt hurt that in eight years, Obama did not take away anyone's guns or institute Sharia law. Why did Obama have to make them wrong? See how divisive he is?

Yeah.....that's how "conservatives" would describe it.....

May 16, 1996 - "Flash back four years: With the American economy just emerging from a two-year recession in the fall of 1992 and many Americans nervous about their economic prospects, Carville's one-note samba -- played over and over again throughout the campaign -- clearly helped propel Bill Clinton into the White House, forcing George Bush to retire to his beloved Texas.

Now it's Bill Clinton's turn to run for re-election. And though the economy is not moving backward (the definition of a recession), it's not setting any speed records either. Fifty percent of major U.S. companies trimmed their payrolls in the 12 months ending June 1995, some of them significantly. Indeed, from March 1995 to March 1996, 325,000 high-paying manufacturing jobs disappeared, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The public -- especially the nearly 8 million people who are working two or more jobs to make ends meet -- know something is amiss. And they are concerned."

September 27, 2000 - "In June, the administration predicted the surplus would be $211 billion, and would increase by as much as $1 trillion over the next 10 years. Clinton also announced the federal government paid down the national debt by $223 billion this year, and by more than $360 billion since 1998, the largest debt reduction in U.S. history."

August 10, 2016 - "U.S. job openings increased in June and layoffs dropped to their lowest in nearly two years as labor market conditions tightened further, according a government report on Wednesday.

"With labor market turnover stable and demand rising, further gains in employment should drive a modest improvement in wage growth and better rates of household income growth," said Jesse Hurwitz, an economist at Barclays in New York."

I don't know about you, but I tend to ignore spam emails. Responding to them is actually the worst thing you can do.

Yes, but other people who may have been inclined to respond to it might not have been inclined after it's pointed out that it's exactly like a spam email. :p

August 13, 2016 - "A U.S. airstrike last month killed Hafiz Sayed Khan, the head of the Islamic State's branch in Afghanistan, a Pentagon spokesman said Friday.

Khan was killed July 26 as U.S. and Afghan Special Forces conducted operations against the terror group in southern Nangarhar province, Deputy Press Secretary Gordon Trowbridge said in a statement.

His death comes as part of a major effort to crush the Islamic State, which became a growing threat in Afghanistan earlier this year.

Khan, a former Pakistani Taliban member, became head of the region's Islamic State branch, known as the Islamic State in the Khorasan Province, in 2015, pledging allegiance to the group's overall leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Trowbridge said Khan was known to directly participate in attacks against U.S. and coalition forces, and that his network terrorized Afghans, especially in Nangarhar, which borders Pakistan."

The real issue is the Taliban are very much active and fierce fighting is going on to control the Opium rich Helmand province and this is not likely to let up too soon.

If it loses a key leader as it frequently does, he can easily be replaced.

.....And, who'd know more (about such "$poil$", of War), than the Bush Family?!!

"Other partners and captains included Joseph Taylor Gilman, William Henry King, John Alsop Griswold, Captain Lovett and Captain J. Prescott. Captain Prescott called on his friend and agent in Hong Kong F.T. Bush, Esq. frequently."

No doubt this is true but the wars started the war in Iraq,Libya and Syria alone cost several billions of dollars and the region is not any better off than it was.

While I don't necessarily agree or disagree with such being the cause, most people think Hillary will be the nominee. So, if your premise is true that the party in control of the govt influences upticks, then it would actually be Hillary causing it. I personally don't believe that, but if you add the proper facts to your argument, that's the conclusion you will achieve.

.....'Cause there's STILL oil, available.....

"At the war’s end, private interests hopeful of exploiting the region’s oil urged their governments to ignore war-time promises to Arab leaders. A variety of small, divided Arab states would be much easier to maneuver into oil deals than a large, independent Arab republic. The European powers agreed."

I would disagree with you here. The middle east is a hell hole. And this won't change until a large moderate middle class that wants peace and will fight for peace can make it so. Outside forces won't change it much. 8 years ago, US troops fully occupied Iraq and the country had no future. We are out now, and at least some in the middle are fighting back. We are seeing signs of ME people wanting less war. Not much we can do about the Sunni/Shia civil war except to encourage the moderates who want something better.
