Holy sweet fucking fucksticks.

We have white conservative Christians sending bombs in the mail, shooting up synagogues, shooting up country & western concerts, shooting up country & western bars, driving cars into crowds of people, etc. Are they bothered by any of that? Nope, they're too busy getting upset that teenagers watched a Shakespeare play.

What horrible moral priorities.

That doesn't seem very 'conservative'. That sounds radical.

Actually, they are bothered about lots of things. You're just fantasising about True Christian groupthink. But you go right on ahead swinging punches Mr shadow boxer.

What horrible moral priorities.

Moving right along. Must be time to talk about atheist moral priorities now.
...which are? What?

So I'm wrong about what they are doing because what they are doing is the result of constantly being in a Christian echo chamber where all their Christian ideas are constantly reinforced?

How does the logic of that argument even work? The fact that groupthink is involved is all the more reason to suspect Christianity and its role in helping people make moral decisions. They are clearly making moral decisions based on their Christianity and a Christian echo chamber, but their moral priorities are clearly very bad.

Also, would it help if I provided a link to a definition of the strawman fallacy? I'm not sure you understand what that means.

As a Catholic kid in the 50s I was taught to never read a book that did not have the papal imprimatur, or seal of approval. Books like Catcher In The Rye were forbidden reading.

It has been a while. There have been cases where Christians have tried to ban books in libraries and public schools.

Several plays. Excerpts, famous lines, trivia. IIRC, the various kings in his plays are presented as a football game, passing the crown back and forth like the pigskin.

I can see their concern, though. I mean, teens would not be a high risk group for alcohol, suicide, sex, acne, drugs, or bad fucking language if no one ever, ever, ever mentioned such things in their hearing. Ban such things! Just look at the success rate of abstinence-only sex ed.

Help is on the way for the Bakersville Christians. First, let us visit 2 Timothy 3:16: All scripture is God-breathed and is to be used for teaching, reproving, and training in righteous living.
Next, let's bring to the local school a play based entirely on a Bible theme. The play is Judges, and is based on Judges 19, a compact episode about a man and his whore (courtesan). The plot elements include a homosexual mob intent on raping a young Levite stud, the raping to death of his whore (this takes all night and constitutes Act II of the play), and the dismemberment of her corpse. Songs include We Slay 'Em in Ephraim; Romp'n and A-Stomp'n Tonight; Throbbing Cubit of Love; and Diced Sliced 'N' Sacrificed. Royalty-free when performed by public schools by student casts.

Sending bombs in the mail, shooting up synagogues, shooting up country & western concerts, shooting up country & western bars, driving cars into crowds of people...

That sounds like radical extremism.
