When a president engages in unprecedented levels of lethal anti-science propaganda, you get unprecedented response from the scientific community. Earlier this past week Scientific American broke a 175 year tradition of not endorsing political candidates to try and ensure Trump's defeat. Also, 108 Stanford medical experts have signed an open letter denouncing "the falsehoods and misrepresentations of science" of their own former colleague and current Trump COVID advisor, Scott Atlas. Unlike Atlas, whose expertise is radiology, most of the signers of the letter are experts in microbiology, infectious disease, and epidemiology. Atlas wasn't selected for his relevant expertise, but because he is a right wing dogmatist who is part of a conservative think tank that has produced several members of former Republican cabinets.

They point out that Atlas' statements are inconsistent with prevailing science related to masks, social distancing, testing asymptomatic people, effects on children and young adults, and safe approaches to herd immunity.

This is just like Project Steve in the old creation-evolution 'debate' but worse. The GOP faithful really love to hang their hat on an argument from authority just because someone that says what they like to hear has some credential, any credential, even if the credential isn't really that relevant. It is what they do in climatology and biology so why not virology and epidemiology. They find some old physicist emeritus that can do math that distributes heat through the atmosphere via convection and advection therefore radiative forcing doesn't affect tropospheric temperature. Okie doakie. It works though, they control most of the federal government and a majority of states.

Here in Los Angeles, we have a social worker that has us on perpetual lock down and the democrats here aren't complaining about that and I see no open letters condemning her anti science bullshit.

And predictably, you present no evidence that the vague person you mention is engaging in anti-science bullshit, especially since lockdowns are supported by the science. By "social worker" are you referring to the Oxford Rhodes Scholar LA mayor with a graduate degree in political science? What do hate about him most? That he's Mexican, Jewish, or educated?

Does it not occur to you that that might be because she's not engaged in anti-science bullshit? The bullshit is coming from the GOP and in vast quantities.

Jog on.

So you don't have any valid basis for your position.
