This is the biggest problem with Trump. He talks a lot and often doesn't say a damn thing. And sometimes he says quite a bit. He kept making threats of nuclear war on North Korea for a bit, before the Kim bromance blossomed.

Trump didn't say he would take Greenland by force, but no President in our history has ever remotely of remotely implied it was on the table to invade a NATO ally! His shitting on Canada is unhelpful noise. And in the end, the Greenland and Panama talk is likely the same. But it is so disruptive and unnecessary. It is hard to tell whether he is using his "art of the deal" skills of being an asshole and threatening to be a bigger asshole to get concessions or if he is just being himself.

I hate this stuff. George W. Bush and Neocons were awful, but while they whittled away good will of our allies, they didn't imply they'd invade them! He isn't in office yet and I can't stand it.

Just to get a feel for the scale of this endeavor... There are 57K-58K people in Greenland, that's it. Getting the vast majority to be into Trump and MAGA is a way, way easier investment than investing to get the popular vote in the US. If Trump/Musk spent $1B, they could split that up into $20K per person to buy them off...and they could do that from their personal funds. If, instead, they used tax payer dollars, they could get approval to spend $1T and hand over $20M per person or spend $20M on propaganda per person in Greenland. They probably don't even need to spend that much money since Musk can inundate them with pro-US posts through twitter algorithms. All there needs to be is some kind of option of putting it to a vote, then a few corruptible or misinformed souls and BINGO!
