The vast majority of the land mass of Greenland is effectively impossible to reach, as it is buried under a mile or two of ice.The land mass of Greenland supposedly contains a lot of rare earth elements
It really doesn't matter what mineral wealth Greenland has anyway - if there are accessible deposits of anything desirable, then the Danes would doubtless be happy to sell mining rights to any multinational corporation that asked (with appropriate environmental safeguards forming a part of the deal).
What's the point in buying Greenland, when you can just buy the Rare Earths or whatever else from the current owner? It's not like the USA isn't already trading in minerals and metals and other commodities with the EU.
Greenland is far from being essential, or even useful, for the USA to own. But even if it were, tough shit - it belongs to someone else, and if they don't want to sell it, or to give it to you, you can't have it. That's a fundamental principle of civilised behaviour right there, and works as well for a brother who wants his sister's candy, as it does for a nation state that wants another nation's mineral resources.
It's not yours. You offered to buy it; The owner refused to sell. Pleading is pathetic, and taking it by force is immoral. So the only dignified option is to suck it up and move on.
