WASHINGTON DC -- The "entire state" of Alaska has been pardoned according to an early morning Tweet by President Trump. "It's about time," finished the second of two tweets announcing President Trump's actions.
The White House was reportedly in chaos, with staffers running around to determine the intent, meaning, and extent of the pardon. White House Press Corp reporters asked the Interim Press Secretary whether the action implied that the state's citizens were pardoned, the state government was pardoned, or some other type of meaning for the pardon. The Press Secretary evaded questions and suggested that the President's action should be taken in a "greater context". The Press Secretary would not elaborate on what that meant. Additionally, the Press Secretary couldn't explain what whomever was actually being pardoned of.
The President's tweet indicated that the pardon would "finally allow the US to move forward". Again, White House officials were not able to explain what that meant to journalists who attended the press briefing which was prematurely ended when it became apparent that the journalists wouldn't drop the subject.
