Prisoners shipped to El Salvador

It's really deceptive to call these "deportations". Arresting and imprisoning someone with trial or hearing on the basis of their alleged ethnicity is not a "deportation", it is internment. A person imprisoned overseas in a country not their own, with no possibility of appeal or legal representation, has not been deported. They have been kidnapped.

Apparently civil rights and civil liberty no longer exist in Trump's America. His supporters and most of the public clearly do not admit it or care very much about their loss.

The story about the deportation flights of alleged Venezuelan gang members to an El Salvadorian prison has to top the list of things to confirm no one has any legal rights any longer. That we are officially in a fascist totalitarian state. The more I think about it, the more disturbing it becomes.

There was no due process with what happened here. Effectively, the federal government can now declare anyone a member of a foreign gang and immediately wisk them away to a foreign prison with known human rights abuses, without any recourse.

Any troublesome individual can be so declared...
