When I was little, my big sister had a jar of something liquid that looked like copper colored particles in a solution. When the jar was shaken, it created a beautiful swirl of coppery dust.

I have no idea why she had it but I guess it was some kind of science experiment. I asked her recently what it was and how it was made and she couldn't remember. Anyone got a clue what I'm talking about?

So.. Chemistry nerd stuff...

what liquid compound precipitates copper?

Cu(OH)2

copper, dissolved in aqueous ammonia... but the ionic precipitate would be light blue, not copper colored.
