So I was listening to some guy explain why he voted for Trump even though he said, “I really don’t like him.” But he voted for Trump because he thought our nation has suffered a decline in morals and lost its Christian bearings.

I rolled my eyes. Fortunately he was on the phone. He had just been fired by Trump too.

Religion is the primary reason that people voted for Trump. Christianity sucks. It’s really destroying our country.

Maybe we should be more evangelical about free thought.

It's basic psychology.
Absolute majority of ordinary older adults don't like change from the time when they were young. Or rather they want to go to times when they were young.
They can tolerate some amount of change but not much. There is nothing you can do about it. Changes should be gradual and natural, not pronoun pride parades in your face every Sunday.

I don't know if Christianity is the primary reason. And Christian nationalism is quasi-religious, as these people replaced their religion with politics but cling, nominally, to the religious beliefs.

I do think Christianity is a big influence in making people stupider than they'd be otherwise.

I remember when QAnon was big in the news, an NPR reporter asked a QAnon believer: "Demons? Really? You mean to say that democrats are actual demons?" She answered: "Well, yeah... When I was a kid I was taught there are demons so why wouldn't I believe it now?"

So, yes, a Christian upbringing has fucked up a lot of American brains. They're taught fantastical crap about Santa and flying reindeer as toddlers, but they can't grow out of it because after Santa comes Jesus and Gawd and demons and hell. Their brains are pounded into putty so that any con artist can use them.

I don't know, christianity was slowly dying in US until this ultra-"progressive" shit started.
It's probably still dying, but they simply got irritated and more organized.

Please tell me voted that way as a "what the hell" vote instead of a vote that Trump could restore our morals and Christian bearings/

Give Orange Boy a chance. As James Dobson said, he's a "baby Christian."
And Jesus, did baby have one hell of a tantrum on Friday.

What we are seeing is the work of radicalizers. Just because they're Christian rather than Muslim doesn't make them not as dangerous.

Trump is hardly Christian. But yes, Christian voters turned out 56%, a recotd high, while atheists snd the unaffiliated sat out the election. You see the result.
