• Welcome to the Internet Infidels Discussion Board.

Remember, remember, the 7th of November, the dynamite treason and plot ...

But it was not unique and pretending that it was (I head people say that nothing like this happened since the War of 1812) is downplaying other instances of political violence.

Did you know that in the United States, the public cost of alcohol-induced traffic incidents is estimated to be around $114.3 billion (Nov 3, 2016)? Talk about property damage!
And talk about violence! You can't compare bashing a cop with a fire extinguisher to a fucking car crash!

So why are we so upset about some kids out having some fun in the park? Yeah, a few of them might have been bad apples and broke a few windows on their way to exercising their right to access properties that they paid for. But most of them didn't even do that; they were, as those BLM people say, "mostly peaceful". Certainly nothing rose (descended?) to the level of actually setting off a bomb!
All you lib'ruls are angry so you're making up a lot of political crap about overthrowing something besides furniture. These were just antics! Did you see how they dressed? They were in costumes for gods sake! Sure, they threw some paper around but that shit is like a couple bucks a ream. At the end of the day, it had to be antifa. They wanted to hang Mike Pence.

On the various internet sewers, the extremists are still plotting to show up in Washington and elsewhere to cause trouble when Biden is sworn in. They didn't seem to learn much from any of this. I hope the nations LEO leaders have learned this lesson and will be prepared if these sort of clowns try to put their boastful threats into action. 11 days to go.

I am fine with president Harris commuting Trump's sentence in 2033
Or Ocasio-Cortez in 2041 for that matter.

Given what's been happening at the Capitol recently, let us remember ...

Why?

It seems like your posting and thread-making about "the Left" has increased since the 6th. What is it about fascists dropping the ball and getting so much negative attention that makes you feel it's important to create diversions? Apparently, somehow, others' negative response to the present threat to democracy looks like Chaos might take over to you... Why?

I didn't like Harris when I first met her.

It was back when she was running for president. She was on a few newsy talk shows. She didn't stand for what believe in. And I thought her a royal bitch. Vicous.

Now, I look forward to her position as the 101st member of the Senate. That bitch will get some things done. McConnell and Cruz have to be shitting their pants.

Funny how the right always downplays terror attacks by fellow right wingers.

I am not a right-winger and neither am I downplaying this. It was obviously horrible.

But it was not unique and pretending that it was (I head people say that nothing like this happened since the War of 1812) is downplaying other instances of political violence.

I understand that. A more appropriate example would be the shooting in the Capitol by Puerto Rican Separatists in 1954. This was a terrorist attack to affect the legislation being considered at the time, an immigration bill. And you would be able to bash a "leftist" president who pardoned the terrorists, Jimmy Carter.

There is little possibility that a communist bombing or a shooting by Puerto Rican separatists at the Capitol will sway many Americans to these causes. But there is a very real danger that the huge block of conservatives who became full-blown reactionaries could be pushed further right to fascism.

Your attempt to bring some balance to the discussion does have the effect of downplaying both the event and the threat that it poses to all of us.

OK then, even worser than killing six people and causing $880,000 in damage.

Most of the dead people have been the attackers though, weren't they? As such they are no more relevant than Ted Gold, Diana Oughton and Terry Robbins for example...

Very good, Derec, that's right. For the purpose of telling you why these equivalences are false, all of those very regrettably dead bodies are indeed quite irrelevant, AFAIC.

You know what really bothers me? It's when a chief executive instructs mindless followers to assemble and wreak havoc upon our electoral system by physically taking over the Nation's Capitol Building with the expressed and apparent intent to murder the Vice President for his refusal to commit the treasonous act of preventing Congress from performing a Constitutionally required act, and doing so to overturn the expressed will of the American electorate on behalf of a lame duck President of the United States of America. I hate it when THAT happens, even if people don't die.
(EVEN if there's no property damage.)

If rubes die in the process, their numbers can be added to the rest who have tragically perished for believing, or believing in, Donald Trump. The police who died resisting Trump's zombies were even more tragic.

And you know what, Derec? I hate it when that happens, every time it happens! I don't really care if it meets your definition of "unique" or not.
