Republican Path to Victory

Psst: Research, not football is where the BIG money is.

Yes, tell that to our $4.3 million Football coach.
Which one of the recipients of the $4.1 billion funded basic science researchers would you like me to send over?

I'm sure LSU has a big research budget as well. We are known for it. And we want to be known for it.

It doesn't say much for Oregon's educational system, that I keep trashing Louisiana's educational system and you think I am bragging about it.

Who can the Repubs field in the upcoming elections that isn't a complete fuckwit?

There are plenty of bright articulate Republicans who would make excellent candidates for President, but there is no point in naming them. None of them will make it out of the primaries, and probably won't even try. They have backed themselves into a room and there is a candidate in each corner with his nose to the wall. Each of them has a small, but fervent support group, but if anyone reaches out to another group, he loses his own. It's of little consequence. None of them can reach out to the middle, either.

Pass it on.....

"Scientists have spent a lot of time trying to lengthen battery life, but safety and thickness matter, too. Just ask Boeing about that first problem -- its 787 Dreamliner was grounded for months thanks to battery fires. However, a group of University of Michigan researchers may have found a way to make lithium-ion energy packs that are safer and slimmer at the same time. The team has developed Kevlar-based, nano-sized membranes that insulate the electrodes in a battery while still allowing lithium ions to pass through and create a proper circuit. The extra-thin layers should not only reduce the chances of short circuiting, but allow for more energy in a given space.

Unlike a lot of battery experiments, there's a roadmap in place for real, tangible products. The researchers have formed their own company, Elegus Technologies, and expect to mass-produce Kevlar-equipped lithium cells in the fourth quarter of 2016."

Last time around there was exactly one potential Republican candidate who wasn't a fuckwit. He barely outlasted crazy eyes bachman.

This time, there aren't any. Rand Paul comes the closest, which is an indication of how far the pack is away. While he is wrong about nearly everything, I at least detect some signs that he is thinking and trying, which I approve of. He is just not doing very well at these things.

My money is still on Walker for the nomination. He is a fuckwit, but a formidable one.

I don't agree. There is Kasich and Bush (and Romney if he feels philanthropic enough to offer the nation his presence in the White House again) who represent what I guess could be considered mildly pragmatic old school Republican values. Perry, Cruz, Walker are out of their minds and Paul is one game of Solitaire away from giving the Homeland away to the Commies!

I can't see a ticket without Kasich. A two-term Governor in Ohio (a crucial battleground state... well all of the Battleground states are crucial to the Republicans thanks to no one living in most of the states they win), very little in the way of scandal, loves to Reaganize budget numbers. The only question is, does he actually want to run.

My last prediction of Richardson taking the Democrat nomination in '08 was proven to be solid! ;)

Whoever the repub nominee is I hope they pick Rick Scott as VP to get him the hell out of my state just in case they win.

True, but that doesn't mean that they won't be nominated. Kasich may indeed be a serious contender, but he is not on the radar right now. If he can elbow Perry aside, I'll consider him a contender. That's a pretty low bar.
