I think we've all realized the red states are something of a drain on the country. I didn't realize how bad:

The rural areas have become very dependent on government handouts. Somehow I don't think the MAGA crowd is paying attention to this, their ideas on welfare would have an awful lot of their supporters upset. And rural areas tend to have guns and know how to use them. They won't be gravy seals.

Funny story.

I was visiting a Church of Christ several years ago and one of the families invited me over to eat. The guest preacher was invited as well. He had come down from Missouri to Texas to do what was called a gospel meeting. During supper politics came up and I argued that a basic welfare state was practical today and even part of the law of Moses. The preacher ranted that that was the law of Moses and the New testament expected us to be charitable and we were not supposed to have any mandatory welfare state.. He bitched about all the people in welfare being lazy and I asked him if it was true he owned a farm and he said yes. Then I said isn't it true farmers get subsidies from the government to stay in business. He said yes and then shut up. The gentleman and wife who invited me to lunch told me later they laughed about that for days. I was the first man they knew that ever shut that preacher up in anything .

All this stuff argued over economics is not rational. It's all animal instincts to survive coming into play And seeing where you are at and what benefits you

Let's be clear, most of the nation is dependent on the Federal Government to build a small bridge crossing a small creek. The GOP has starved the nation of money, particularly at the state level. Those tax cuts needed to go to infrastructure, but instead went back into the corporations.

Where the fuck were they when I had to build a bridge over the S Arkansas river?
Why do I have to pay out of pocket!!!??

Guess I’m not most of the nation. 🤬

Perhaps it's time to stop calling the Republican Party a party. The GOP appears to be defunct, leaving behind a cult with Trump at its head.

Any source of collective consciousness can be revived and repurposed. The Republican Party is a ghost of itself, barely audible below the thrum of the fascist takeover, but I can imagine a path to recovery and revitalization. I hope they can to.

If they do start a civil war don't make the mistake Lincoln did in pardoning everyone after the last one. All those who participated in it should forever lose the right to vote and hold office on the light end of it to being taken out and shot on the harsher end of things.

I don’t like the idea of thousands of FOXwashed morons being punished for being stupid, believing RW propaganda and falling victim.

But staff at the lying “news” outlets? Fair game, AFAIC. Liars for Trump agitating for violence? Fair game. And of course the violent ones - May their blood wash our sins away.

Oh, they will. It just won’t be a war with guns in the streets—it’ll be a legislative one. Trump campaigning in New York was more about trying to secure a Senate seat than actually winning the state, since everyone knows a Trump victory in New York is unrealistic. He kept mentioning this 'secret' about the House, which isn’t a secret to anyone well-versed in constitutional law regarding elections. He’s such an idiot; clearly, someone actually smart had the idea but was stupid enough to share it with a loudmouth.

Wait, does that mean they aren’t actually smart after all?
