Russia Backs Trump’s Re-election, and He Fears Democrats Will Exploit Its Support

Do you have evidence for this assertion? According to the below link, 50% of Americans will not vote for a socialist:

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/is-socialism-still-an-effective-political-bogeyman/

BTW: the above link is very supportive of socialism. It makes the case that socialism is not the boogeyman that it once was. However, please explain to me how democrats can win with less than 50% of the votes. IMO, it's not possible. In fact, most articles that I've read have made the argument that the dems can't win unless the margin is greater than about 6% of the popular vote due to the EC.

Bernie is no more a socialist than Liz is an Indian or Biden is a conspirator with Ukraine to meddle in 2016. Those 50% consist of the usual 38% who will be trumpsuckers no matter what, and the rest can probably be educated - especially since most of them already hate Trump.

Totally agree. However, how much faith do you have in Joe Sixpack, paying his monthly union dues while going to church and hunting elk will understand the distinction? I think that we need some of these votes to win.

My immediate thought is that Joe sixpack better not let the rest of his hunting buddies know that he was considering voting against Saint Donald, or there could be a terrible hunting accident. And literally - God forbid he bring it up at church! No, I think Joe, his hunting buddies and almost all of his congregation are already in the Putin Pocket as part of the 38%.
There may be one or two such who would dare to step out of line, but if that's the case it's because they (or more likely, their spouse) realized that Saint Donald is in fact Devil-Spawn, and might vote accordingly without telling anyone.

I hope that you are right. However, I'm very concerned about how bad it will be for the US and the world to suffer through another 4 years of Trump. And therefore, I'm not willing to take any votes for granted in defeating him. The stakes are too high. To me, I just don't see why we are in a language war over "socialism". Why poke the bear?

However I don't see Bernie as any more damaged goods from calling himself a democratic socialist

“Jew” is the part you left off there. He’s a New York Commie Jew landlord out to take your money to pay for his kids’ college. Or so he would be painted in spite of the fact that only the Jewish part is accurate.

And among conservative democrats in the Midwest and Bible/Rust Belts and the (religious) black and Latino Democrats, a significant percentage will not vote for him because of that alone. It only took about a 4% drop in black voter turnout to push white rural votes over the EC threshold in 2016.

Conservative Democrats/blacks/latinos make up a large percentage of the DNC, so if Trump is to have any chance of winning it will be through suppressing those demographics. Putin, of course, knows this.

If he were out to sow general chaos, then he’d weaponize Warren as well. Women make up the majority of Dem voters after all.

As to the “most likely to beat” category, that is painfully easy to discern. Both Trump and Putin have made it unmistakably clear who they fear the most. Biden.

One could argue that the biggest bear is the one that would be awakened by Bernie being denied the nomination if he is still ahead going into the convention. And subsequently, if he gets nominated, how hard a sell could it be, against a guy who has never been above 50% approval in his entire tenure? I believe there are more than enough people who would vote for virtually (or literally for that matter) anyone besides Trump, and the key would be getting them to show up. The obvious dire consequences of 4 more Trump years should suffice to get many of them off the couch. I can only hope that if Bernie doesn't get the nomination, his "bros" decide to show up and vote against Trump anyhow, having learned a lesson in 2016.

Yeah, there's that. But let's face it; everybody is something or other that some bunch of people hates. I think that if you slow down to try to navigate around such potholes you lose the race. Best to head straight for them at great speed - it's smoother that way, and you get where you want to go a lot faster.

If Sanders had any actual integrity, he would have resigned from the race upon hearing the Russians were (once again) weaponizing his campaign. But, no, it’s all about his ego.

What the fuck are you smoking and why aren't you sharing? How is Bernie responsible for what Putin does? Personally I think his response of, "I don't want your help, fuck off" addressed the issue pretty well.

While I remain very skeptical that Sanders can beat Trump, I don't think the type of people who wouldn't vote for the Jewish guy, or the most progressive guy, are Democrats. I think most Democrats will eventually hold their noses and vote for Sanders, considering that Trump is the alternative. But, I could be wrong. There are already a lot of Democrats screaming that they won't vote for Sanders. I think those of us who don't like his stubborn, non compromising attitude, will force ourselves to vote for him.

He's picking up huge support from Latinos and Black folks. I know plenty of women who preferred Warren, but they will vote for whoever becomes the nominee. Of course, considering the electoral college system that we have, and considering how much he will be demonized by Trump and company, it's going to be an uphill battle.

I agree that Sanders is very ego driven but then I think the vast majority of presidential candidates have always been ego driven. I agree that. he lacks widespread appeal and I hope he will choose a much younger, more pragmatic woman to run with him. I have no idea who that person might be.

Super Tuesday will tell us if he will be the nominee for sure. Let's get it over with and try to unite behind the candidate, no matter how much we don't like him. Nobody is as dangerous as Trump.

Seems like the NV primary is over, wonder what's on my news feed
