RussiaGate

Blaming Russia for Trump for example. Clearly role of Russia is minuscule and yet they all trying to say that Trump would not have been elected without these russians.

It's a big internet and you could probably find some bozo who believes that Russia was the main factor.

But the fact is that Trump squeaked into the White House, against the will of The People, by a razor thin margin. Obama handily won Wisconsin in 2012, by 7%. Trump won it in 2016 by a fraction of one percent. Due to our gerrymandered EC, tiny influences determined the outcome. Clinton Campaign overconfidence was a huge factor. But Russian influence might be what made the difference.

Your stupid electoral college made the difference. And your retarded system where Media companies make money on lies and private money in politics were the main factors. Russia did not force you to have that system. Russia did not force your politicians to support Trump.

You state this as though you have evidence. I'm confident that you don't.

I think it's hilarious that a person who support's Putin and pushes Russian state media propaganda is complaining about the US system. Yeah, our system isn't ideal, but at least our opposition leaders aren't poisoned to death and thrown into prison for simply being opposed to the ruling party.

But Russia forced Apple to take down an app used to organize opposition to Putin's slate of candidates.

Journalists too. Russia is a mob state. Freedoms only apply to high ranking lieutenants. The last election proved that.

Why not just rename Russia what it actually is, Putinstan? Fuck the Vikings.

How do you feel about a person who supports neither system criticising the US system?

Sure, it's not as bad as Russia (or as a stack of other places), but that doesn't mean it's a good system. No real effort is made to ensure that every eligible person has their say; Indeed 'voter suppression laws' are considered a valid political tactic. There's no pretence that each vote has the same (or even similar) value. There's an entrenched two-party system that effectively excludes any candidates who don't fit into either camp, and absolutely excludes any power for ideas not supported by one or both parties. And the two parties are both economically well to the right of the norm for the developed world, leaving voters who bother to turn out with a choice of 'get shafted' vs 'get severely shafted'.

It's not a system that inspires envy.

At best, it has the attraction of the possibility of economic gain for people who are hard-working, fit, healthy, and lucky. That puts it above many other nations in the ranks of places for young adult immigrants from developing nations, but the strong desire to migrate to the US (rather than say the EU) is largely a matter of better marketing, particularly by Hollywood. It's founded in fiction and imagination, rather than in any genuine superiority of the US system.

Whataboutism much?
I don't support Putin,

They did, it was according to them foreign invluence/money. I remember your constant whining about foreign influence.

The above coming from the king of whataboutism.

The app wasn't about foreign influence or foreign money.

How do you know that?
It's an established fact that "opposition" (it's called non-systemic opposition by Russian government) is financed by anonymous donation which can not be traced. Imagine that happening in US.

That's not happening with barbos, though.

Sure, it's not as bad as Russia (or as a stack of other places), but that doesn't mean it's a good system.
Which I why I said "yeah, our system isn't ideal..."

It isn't. There's a lot wrong with it. But again, an opposition leader (who in this case would be Trump) doesn't have to carefully pick and choose his flight path over the country for fear of his plane being forced down. When he was running for office, Trump made a big deal of people chanting "lock her up" at rallies, but could he actually arrest Hillary and disappear her into a prison until she was "accidentally" beaten to death by guards? No. Yet that's what happens in Putin's Russia.

Last time I checked, barbos isn't exactly the biggest critic of Vlad and his band of merry oligarchs.

Events can have multiple causes. Did the forest burn down because of the drought? Because the forestry service neglected to bulldoze a firebreak? Or because some asshole threw out a lit cigarette? Answer: ALL THREE causes caused the severity of the fire.

The 2000, 2016, and 2020 election results were all VERY close, so each had MULTIPLE causes. Willingness of GOP politicians to embrace the sociopath deserves much blame for the 2016 tragedy, but any one of (a) Clinton stupidities, (b) Fox/Infowars propaganda, (c) Russian meddling, and (d) Comey's untimely report on the Emails was enough by itself to cause Trump's victory.

Russian meddling was enough to swing the election even if it was as minor as some suggest. My information is not up-to-date but my impression is that that meddling was far more extensive than some here admit. For starters, were there not large teams of trolls and bots in Russia and allied countries flooding Facebook with fakery?

Trump officials were 'manipulating the intelligence' on white supremacy — and it made Jan 6 worse: DHS whistleblower
On CNN Monday, Homeland Security whistleblower Brian Murphy — a self-described conservative Republican and Trump voter who served as deputy undersecretary of the DHS intelligence office — opened up about how Trump administration DHS officials pressed him to manipulate intelligence about issues like white supremacy, and how it contributed to the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

"You said you were told to lie about multiple topics," said anchor Brianna Keilar. "Which topics?"

"So it was really anything that made the president look bad," said Murphy. "From the moment I arrived, three main topics that would draw the ire of the administration, anything to do with white supremacy, Russian disinformation, and the southwest border."

"Did officials confront the fact that ignoring these things could be problematic?" asked Keilar.

"I think it was more than ignoring them," said Murphy. "It was to manipulate the intelligence to fit that political narrative. They did not only not want things to come out, but shape it in a way that would support the president's objectives."

So an app created by Russians to aid other Russians in their voting choices is foreign influence. Hmmm...

And threatening to jail Apple and Google employees just for hosting the app on their app stores is just fine.
