Former Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin explained that her daughter had gotten pregnant out of wedlock for the second time because God gave people second, third and fourth chances not to sin. “Bristol is pregnant again,” CBS correspondent Tracy Smith pointed out to Palin during a recent trip to Wasilla. “That can’t be how you saw this playing out, unmarried and pregnant again.”

“Heck, no!” the former Alaska governor insisted. “Because being a single mom is — oh, my goodness. My heart goes out to the single parents. But my enormous admiration for what they’re able to accomplish doing double duty. And I watch Bristol do double duty all the time with her little boy, Tripp.”

“I can’t wait for about 45 more days and I’m going to have a little baby granddaughter,” Palin beamed. “And I’m happy about it.” “Of course, there are those who say, ‘Come on, this goes against everything you stand for,’” Smith observed. “Well, the cool thing about putting your faith in God,” Palin replied in a folksy voice, “is he certainly is a God of second chances and third and fourth and fifth chances.

Didn't Bristol shake the money tree by going around the country on a speaking tour on ABSTINENCE???? Or am I dreaming? I'm pretty sure she knows how to do what Mom does -- get some writers, hire a support staff, read a script for ca$$$$h. This is so far beyond hypocrisy, it's unreal. Underseer got it right: next time you hear a George Will Republican intoning on how the black outta wedlock birthrate has gone up since the 50's, just chant Palin at him/her. This is the inane woman they told us was ready to lead the free world in a John McCain heartbeat. Goddamn. And didn't Mom tell Bristol to write CONDOM on her hand as a crib note?

Yup, Bristol Palin is a spokesperson for abstinence -- receiving speaking fees to lecture all those other people about not having sex.

She denies it, of course. Even though her work with the Candle Foundation is well known and we can all watch her speeches online. Girls should "wait", and abstinence until marriage should be the goal of all girls. The hypocrisy (and stupidity) is really stunning.

But, it's ok if you're a republican. Right?
