Sarah Palin To NRA Crowd: Waterboarding Is How We Baptize Terrorists

You know the saying about "People who like sausage, should not watch it being made"? Pig castration is the first step of sausage making. It's not a metaphor.

But applying it to politicians is a metaphor. Unless she wants to actually castrate a bunch of politicians. In which case, I'll vote for her.

Okay, but if you are uncomfortable with the idea of pig castration, you don't want to know about lamb castration.

From what I remember, people were describing McCain's decision to have Palin as VP as "genius" or at least a "very smart move". Why is that?

It shook up a moribund campaign. After eight years of Bush and months of Obama being consistently ahead in the polls, the GOP wanted to shake things up and get people talking about them. They shot down McCain's choice of Lieberman for VP and introduced a young, attractive woman in an attempt to get guys horny and maybe peel off a few pissed off Hillary voters. They got a bump that put them ahead for about a week as people were excited about the fresh choice. Then she started talking and the whole strategy fell apart.
I remember the bump staying around a little longer than I was comfortable with, thinking "Are Americans this stupid?" It wasn't a genius decision. There was no genius decision. Obama was going to win. 8 years of W was the main reason for that. McCain picked the wrong year to be the candidate. 2000 would have worked much better.

Ya, it was the equivalent of throwing a Hail Mary from your own 10 yard line when you're down by 14 points with a minute left to play. It's not likely to end up working, but you're out of options and you either try something crazy and hope for the best or just kneel down and run out the clock. It was as "genius" a decision as was possible for them at the time and likely worked out better than any alternative strategy would have.

Sometimes she says things before her idea is thought through.

This implies that she has ideas afterwards or that what she says is based on some form of idea in the first place. Neither of those is accurate.

PS - Does anyone else remember when the only reason we ever said derogatory things about her was because we were terrified of her ideas? Not terrified as in "OMG! Those are horrible", but terrified as in "OMG! Having her in charge will show that our entire poltiical and economic philosophies are completely baseless due to her amazing success at everything!"

Sometimes she says things before her idea is thought through.
Which fortunately allows every listener the chance to complete her ideas. And then laugh...

Do you think it's commendable or even tolerable that someone who wants to be president should need a twenty second delay every time she speaks in public?

  1. Sometimes?
  2. She has ideas?
  3. She finishes thinking?

You are raising the bar aeebee50. Palin doesn't have ideas. She is a political version of a flame thrower. She doesn't have any policies, any original thoughts. She just riles up people. She is no more than a political heel. Though, I guess in her case, she is a babyface to the vile tea party.

I'm fondly remembering when she had to check her hand to remember her talking points.

And that she had to correct one of them.

Sarah Palin: Only Leftist Wusses Complain About The Waterboarding Of Terrorists
So, she wants her first amendment right to say she'd torture terrorists, but gets upset when others exercise their first amendment right to bitch about her threats of torture...
