One thing that can be said about Al Jazeera is that it produced detailed news from the region and around the World. If I am travelling on business I tend to lookfor that channel. CNN and other stations give very little actual news and show a lot of non topical programs in between

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and the UAE have been calling for its closure. So much for the Arab Spring.

http://www.arabamericannews.com/2017/07/07/the-call-to-shut-down-al-jazeera-must-be-condemned/

It's not possible to copy the article but no doubt (as mentioned) Saudi wants to spread its philantophic philosophy around the world and no doubt it feels Al Jazeera would be contradicting this.

Al-Jazeera is one of the main instigators of the conflict in Syria. It's not quite as blatantly propagandist as RT or Press TV, but it's not entirely innocent either. Of course, neither is Saudi Arabia.

A lot of media can be termed as instigators. George Galloway (Press TV) is of course very entertaining. He did say Trump forgot to include Saudi in the Travel Ban, considering it is the main force behind trouble in the region

If the US treated Saudi Arabia as it plans to treat North Korea it would move the situation in the Middle East a good few miles nearer decency. Why does it so desperately support the two greatest causes of reactionary murder in the region, as if we didn't know?

No it begins with Sphere of Influence. The greater part of grand strategy at play here by the establishment politicians is attempting keep Russia and China out of the Middle East. This is what a war with Iraq, Syria, and potentially Iran is about. pre-invasion Iraq, Syria, and Iran all have one thing in common: They don't wanna play ball with the US. They crossed us, so we attempted or are actively attempting to remove them. DJT has one redeeming feature and that is he threw a massive wrench in this ongoing plan with regards to Syria. But I suppose this is like saying Jason Voorhees has one redeeming feature because he inadvertently saves you from your rapist and kills him.

It also often does anti-fracking stories and Qatar just happens to be one of the biggest producers of natural gas, number 2 exporter of natural gas and by a wide margin number one LNG exporter in the world and thus has a vested interest in other countries not producing so much of their own gas.

Because the world is so much better off with Russia and Iran controlling Syria.

Okay did you read anything I just wrote? The only stake the US has in Syria is keeping other nations from having a stake there. It has nothing to do with what's good for the world. It has everything to do with the powers that be trying to keep our natural rivals in check, global stability be damned.

What would the U.S. have done if most of the hijackers of 9/11 were North Korean?

Al Jazeera used to be a good source of news. They were subverted by Qatar, though.

You will find SINOPEC and CNPC or its specialist companies such as CPECC operating in the Middle East so the US hasn't been that effective. Jeddah is one of the ports used for passing over Sudan bound goods so as to circumvent the US embargo.

CNPC signed a contract with BP for contracts in Iraq. As I understand it subcontracted site construction work to an Indian subcontractor.

Of course the US is fighting Russia through backing rebel forces in Syria.

The problem is that the US and its allies are making things worse than they were before.

Syria is actually easier for US to deal with now, because the rebels are so obviously going to lose (if they haven't already) that the choice to stop supporting them isn't hard to make. For all practical purposes US has already pushed them under the train. At best America can maintain some influence by helping our Kurds fight ISIS, and that's it.

I wonder if the feud between Qatar and KSA might escalate to a military confrontation, and shift the focus away from Syria entirely.

Hard to care over the fate of a slaver state.

Saudi is armed to the teeth with Western Weaponry. Qatar is a small state but also well armed. There is a US military base in the country so it's not certain if this may put off a battle between the two countries in case US servicemen and residents are caught in the Middle.

Qatar would also face an attack from the UAE in such circumstances.

After the war human trafficking will be back to normal. Actually some of the laws look quite good but they are not being enforced.

Remember that Syria wasn't a direct conflict between countries either. Saudis just financed and armed Syrian and foreign fighters, they didn't have to start a shooting war. I would imagine that if the rift between Saudi Arabia and Qatar widens, that would be the first step.

If it came to war they would know to avoid the base our troops are at.

This "Everybody hates Qatar" show is a bit sudden to me.

It's not sudden. Nobody particularly likes or has ever liked Qatar, an infamous slaver state run by a despotic monarchy.
