SC doubles down on the stupidity--trying to mandate porn filters

So you watch porn :diablotin:

Anywho...just don't move to SC; or if you live there buy your device online, or make a day trip outside of the fascist state.

The legal definition of this is "racketeering."

This is not the first time someone has use "think of the children" as justification to clamp down on pornography. As a law, the idea is as laughable as it is unenforceable.

Doing the math, 1.5 million households, average two computers a home, probably about $30 million in proceeds over the next six years.

Would the list of exemptions be public record? :D

What? From the 2,000 people who would bother to actually submit to this extortion? And what about the loss of in state sales (and the 6% state sales tax) of internet enabled devices as people buy elsewhere? Its not like SC is a Yuge state...I doubt much of anywhere is more than a 2 hour drive to a neighboring state.

This kind of reminds me of when Massachusetts tried to impose a sales tax on alcohol bought in the lower tax neighboring states.

Off the same state web link for sex offenders, I assume :D

Welcome to Skwerl's Cross the Border Computer Hut. Don't like the gubberment tellin' y'all wa's you can watch? Come on over and we'll get you a clean drive. We also sell online, as South Carolina cannot regulate that!

The margins would probably bet better if you ran a *ahem* café

Naw, just open up "sex education" websites for people dumb enough to buy porn online (at all?).

I say we just print out photos of the most disgusting porn we can find and mail them to Rep. Chumley.

The total time I spent in SC was one week of class. I'm on the other side of the continent and live in a place where air is for breathing, not swimming.

The worst can't be printed. Something like 2 girls 1 cup is far worse than something like tubgirl.

Don't worry, he already has them on his hard drive. As is typical, the guy who yells the most loudly about others viewing porn is the same guy who is sitting in his office with the door closed, fapping for hours on end. It's great cover until you get busted with your pants down.

In the pre-filed bill, the filter must have a system in place to allow consumers to report any obscene content that hasn't been caught by the filter.
Hmmmm. Would I rather report that I found censorship obscene or report the Bible as having obscene content?

Decisions, decisions.

On the bright side, the bill would harm all computer manufacturing and retail business in SC, harming the State's economy, prompting fewer people to live in SC, thus reducing their electoral votes and impact on the rest of us.

Wouldnt surprise me at all if this site ended up on SC's "porn" list

Great way to control info. No definition, so it is whatever we say it is

Well...there is a goodly share of mental masturbation going on around here.... :D

:hysterical:

That was great, now pull the other one.

Censorship isn't something that you can point to and report.

The Bible, though...
