A series of psychiatric facilities run by the Church of Scientology in Cannon County, Tenn. has been closed after police found that patients there were being held against their will. Via Tony Ortega, the Cannon Courier reports that several facilities in the county were shut down after police received a 911 call from someone within one of the facilities, whom they found locked inside a cabin with no way to get out.

This is a policy of isolation of Scientologists having a "psychotic break", the infamous "Isolation Rundown" that mandates locking the troubled person up and using Scientology "techniques" to "cure" them. They have managed for decades to get by with this, oftem by intimidation, and use of lawyers to skirt laws.

Finally, they got busted for it. For us long time critics of Scientology, it has long been knowledge that they have gotten away with this abuse that has been among the most frustrating aspects of Scientology.

This is going to be interesting to follow.

Nice to see they got a guilty plea. IIRC, they've gotten away with it in the past because they've been able to argue the person was there voluntarily.

To be fair, though, the only reason that they locked people in cabins was because pissed off alien ghosts forced them to. You really can't blame the Scientologists for this.

Some of you may call that claim spurious and ask me to back it up, which I am more then happy to do after six easy payments of $100,000 to demonstrate that you're ready to hear it.

Yes, the thread of Scientology is unravelling for sure. As of late they've had attacks from celebrities that used to be in the fold, and the city here in Clearwater finally stood up to them here in a land deal.

The Scientologists and Miscavige are used to getting their way, especially since they were granted tax exempt status. But recent events have hurt them and properly identified them as the harmful cult they are. So now they're trying to attack Clearwater Aquarium, which I think will backfire spectacularly. This is the same Aquarium of Winter the Dolphin fame. It looks like petulant, amateurish bullying. Probably because it is.

Personally, the sooner the better. I'd love to get our downtown back. Right now it's filled with white shirt, black slack wearing Scientology zombies and their shops at which they work for slave labor wages.

Well halla-fucking-luah... it only took Clearwater about 40 years

I used to live in Clearwater when I was a teenager, and the Scientologists were ruining the community then... buying up everything they could get their hands on.

And bravo to the aquarium for rejecting their offer, too.

The aquarium has rejected the church's $15 million offer.

So $cientology locks people up for months & months... that seems bad.
But at least they keep the evil psychs away from them!!

While i'd love for Scientology to be locked up in a cargo container and flown out into space towards the sun, I really don't think anything will come of this.
