Wow.
So being against fascism is exactly as bad as promoting open white supremacists for public office and voting for literal Nazis? Wow.
They are not really being against fascism. If you look at their signs, they want to abolish profits, borders and nations.
And yes, one sign mentions "fascism". But to communists, anybody opposed to communism was a fascist. The ostensible purpose of the Berlin Wall was protecting East Germany from the supposedly fascist, imperialist West Germany. That's why they called it "Antfaschistischer Schutzwall" (anti-fascist protective wall).
If I did that in one of my parody posts, people would accuse me of being ridiculous and over the top.
You are always ridiculous and over the top, but that's beside the point. Read the Democratic Socialists of America NY Chapter's signs for yourself.
Remember when FDR* made all profits and corporations illegal and ended capitalism?
Who is talking about FDR? We are talking about the people calling themselves "Democratic Socialists" now. FDR didn't call for abolishing profits, borders and nations.
Because democratic socialism and socialism are exactly the same thing. Therefore, the Cold War was a conflict in which both sides were socialist.
Democratic Socialists of the DSA are socialists.
From their
constitution:
DSA said:
We are socialists because we share a vision of a humane social order based on popular control of resources and production, economic planning, equitable distribution, feminism, racial equality and non-oppressive relationships.
I.e. they advocate collective control of means of production. That's textbook socialism.
* For any rightists who are confused, FDR was a democratic socialist
Depends how you define the term. Some people claim "socialism" is having any social safety net or public anything (roads, sewers, etc.) I think that is ridiculous.
FDR could not be part of DSA as they only were founded in 1971. He also did not subscribe to their tenets. So what exactly makes him a "democratic socialist" as opposed to being just a Democrat?
I think you are confusing
democratic socialism with
social democracy.
Wikipedia said:
Democratic socialism is a political philosophy that advocates political democracy alongside social ownership of the means of production[1] with an emphasis on self-management and/or democratic management of economic institutions within a market socialist, participatory or decentralized planned economy.[2]
Social democracy is a political, social and economic ideology that supports economic and social interventions to promote social justice within the framework of a liberal democratic polity and capitalist economy.
Democratic socialism is a subtype of socialism.
