So, Elliot Page? Elliot page.

The rumour is Vanya will remain female in season three. Maybe that's what seemed best for the show and the character. Maybe Page doesn't feel concern over playing a woman still. Maybe Page doens't want to go the Ellen route with it. Who knows?

I don't think it would have been that jarring to shift the character if the team had wanted to. The televised version has already departed from the source material. The Hargreeves kids exploring their identities has been a core theme through the first two seasons. Vanya was already exploring her sexuality, which is sometimes a stepping stone for transgender people.

I'm planning to drop Netflix for a bit after December, but if I haven't renewed my subscription by the time third season lands, I'll probably will just to burn through the season. I don't think they've even started filming though.

Strangely, I was more shocked finding out that Tom Hopper is British than finding out Elliot is trans.

I don't agree with this at all. He made a very fine girl from my point of view. I'm officially registering my objection.

The strongest piece of evidence, honestly, for their identity being valid is that I actually found (still find) Elliot Page to be rather attractive.

Because invariably when I find a "girl" to be attractive, like clockwork, I find out in short order they are a man.

(I joke, though. His identy is valid because it is his, not because I think he's a hottie.)

Oh, that happened to my marriage! We figured it all out in the wrong order, though.

Heh. My last marriage ended because I married a woman who I didn't know was one at the time (to be fair neither did she), that went badly (also, badly because it was my first and painful learning experience with trans identity and I didn't handle it very well). My second marriage is inverted in every way. Transmasc, knew before the relationship, we've been married for 3 years.

Common problem! :D
