Ah, right. If your tax advisor told you not to take lawful deductions and right offs but instead pay more than you owe, would you do it? How long would this person remain your tax advisor?
And the IRS thinks $100ish million in taxes was not paid

The poll question is clear enough though. Did you pay more taxes than Trump in 2017? $750? .

That's the big question. Are they really lawful?

$30,000 to Ivanka Trump for "consulting fees" while she's already an employee? You really think that's a lawful deduction?

Actually, according to the Times article, he paid her 700,000 to her as a consultant and also called her an employee. That sounds very fishy. It's very possible that he was trying to transfer some of his money to her without having to pay the required gift tax for gifts that are over the limit. It's about 12 or 13 K this year, I think. It was probably 10K when he gave her that money and pretended she was working for him. Yeah right.

There were several other things that he supposedly did, like declaring about half of some of the money he actually made in at least two circumstances.

Then there is the mysterious 72 or so million that he received as a refund. That is still being investigated.

I could go on, but read the article for yourself. There is plenty of evidence that the man is a crook and possibly committed tax and/or business fraud.

But, the other thing that I learned from reading the article is that the IRS is very underfunded, our tax code is worse than I thought in how it protects the wealthiest, while putting more of a burden on the middle class.

It's also very obvious that Trump is a terrible business man, a liar and a cheat. Why would anyone want someone so incompetent to run the country when he couldn't even run his own businesses. The only thing he's ever been good at is fooling people into thinking he's something that he's not.

He probably treats the sex work as a separate line item.

No, it's classified as a withholding tax, as in, "Daddy, I told you no. It makes me uncomfortable!!"

Well, ALL Trump is, is reputation. So banging porn stars, playmates, nude models, sexy purse vendors, it's all a business expense to make and maintain that "winner" rep. Paying them off to protect his rep in other circles also impacts his business.

We're talking about Ivanka.

Though it'd be quite something if Trump deducted his payout to Stormy Daniels as a business expense.

So is he a dirty criminal or just a consistent failure in every business he's been involved with? Does it matter which disqualifying trait he has?

Yeah, sexy purse vendor...? He did brag that she's hot enough for him to date, playing up the playboy reputation. Ick, ick, ptui.

I'm sure he told some specific people about Stormy, and Karen, for the same reason.

i would not be surprised, it seems like he could justify it in his head, then tell his lawyers to justify it in an audit.
