Socialism and hunger: a quick reminder

No fundamental change? He wants to dramatically reduce military spending, dramatically increase the safety net, and dramatically increase taxes.

IOW, he wants to make changes that all fall well within the current system of Democratic Socialism, which means that by definition, none of those change the fundamental nature of our economy.

I don't disagree with your statement. True Socialists have committed terrible crimes against humanity and have murdered many thousands of people. Of course Bernie's enemies will attempt to tarnish him by reminding people that he once considered himself a "socialist". It's all politics.

Really? Communists have. But are they really "Socialists"? Were Nazis really socialists? Or really Crony capitalists?
"True Socialists"? Who defines "True Socialists"?

The average voter doesn't know the difference between a socialist, a communist, and/or a capitalist. What's known is that people who called themselves socialists murdered millions of people in the 1930's to 1950s. Fair or not, politicians will exploit Sanders self identifying himself as a socialist.

The more people see and hear Sanders the more they like him.

All he really needs is exposure.

Americans may be ignorant but they know what Germany is and can clearly see that other nations do things much better than the US does them.

And all Sanders is trying to do is make the US a little more like Germany. Nothing radical.

The battle cry that Sanders has been announcing has been there for decades. There is strong opposition to it. Will the Democrats take the chance again after getting soundly defeated after passing Obamacare. So it's not apparent that Congress will work with Sanders to get much of house programs passed.

What battle cry?

"Hey look many other nations have had universal health insurance for decades."

There is strong opposition to it.

There are people profiting from the current system.

Many insurance executives and stockholders are making millions with the current system.

There is financial interest in maintaining the current system, no rational argument beyond that to do so.

Will the Democrats take the chance again after getting soundly defeated after passing Obamacare.

The Democrats were defeated because Obamacare was a betrayal to the left. It is a reward for large insurance corporations and a tax on people without insurance.

So it's not apparent that Congress will work with Sanders to get much of house programs passed.

If Trump is leading the ticket it is not assured the Republicans will maintain control of the House.
