Solar Eruption Picture

So, if that was heading to Earth, on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being (WW II was a warmup to misery), what would have been the impact on our grid (and orbiting infrastructure)?

Screw the grid, what about rich people's Teslas?

The grid is susceptible. There have been disruptions in the past.

That is an odd article. It is more about the imaging than the event itself. There are too many qualifiers to understand how unusual the event itself was (or if it is unusual) just that it is an 'unprecedented' image for the new Solar Orbiter spacecraft. It looks like it could be just a PR release by those involved in the Solar Orbiter program to justify the cost of the program.

"(CNN) - A striking and unprecedented image of a solar eruption has been captured by NASA and the European Space Agency's Solar Orbiter spacecraft.
It's the largest solar prominence ever observed in a single image together with the full disc of the sun, ESA said in a statement released Friday."
