Tonight I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.

ICE murdered two US citizens, two US Citizens whose name the Trump Admin then dragged through the mud and lied about. Countless others assaulted by ICE. And he wants to talk about the duty of protecting American citizens. The shame of the GOP knows no bounds.

You dont have to be pleased with ICE to be able to agree with standing with the American people though. At face value Democrats could and should have stood up for their constituents. Trump won the last election over this issue and the citizens of the US want their politicians to represent them and not someone else. If Democrats continue to put others ahead of the American people they will rightfully continue to lose more elections.

Exactly! You’d think the the Democrats could have worked in a bipartisan manner to write a bill that addressed the border situation. Maybe even getting one of the more conservative Republicans on board to negotiate it. Since the Republicans care so much about the issue it surely would have breezed through Congress so Biden could had signed it. Wonder why they didn’t do that??

But your point cant be heard or understood easily by the general public. When on live television Trump created a binary situation with no nuance while the Democrats stupidly sat on their butts. I fully expect this event to prove very harmful for the Democrats during their next election cycle. You can be sure the Republicans will play it over and over again.
