It's been really interesting reading threads on Sanders/Clinton/Trump.
Several posters who I would not have thought to end up agreeing with each other have done so.
And several posters who I would have assumed to agree do not.
Others I thought would be bystanders have been strongly partisan.
And some I thought would be single issue are focusing on something entirely different.
I don't think that this is because I've not noticed people's complexities - I don't think. I think it's the interesting set of candidates we're discussing and their particular platforms/issues/personalities. The conservative is not the religionist. The woman is not the liberal. The old white man is not the authoritarian. The socialist is not the measured speaker. The congressional support doesn't align with the party. The social subgroups are not necessarily following their top priority, but sometimes their second-through-tenth.
The candidates are causing us to express positions that previously have not been our most vocal. Talking about the election we've got instead of the one we wish we had.
So it's been kinda interesting and cool and a reminder that we're all more complex than we appear.
