The 613 Biblical Commandments

My biggest problem with atheists is that they de facto support Phelps and friends by treating them as normative and constantly publicizing their actions, while cheerily ignoring the roughly 2.3 billion Christians who have never protested at anyone's funeral or waved angry signs about who's going to hell. Getting a lot of press is not the same thing as being average; in fact, those conditions contradict. Aren't you guys supposed to be good at math and science? If so, why do you insist on knowingly, intentionally picking a stereotype instead of a type for the set?
Though I really do get your point...didn't you kind of just lump all atheists into one monolith? I was kind of picking on the Gnostic Christian Bishop the other week for lumping Christians into one monolithic caricature.
Ah, true! Apologies for the hypocrisy! I am aware that not all atheists are prone to this particular logical flaw. I should have perhaps said, "an irritating trend I have often encountered on atheist fora".

Much too wordy, just go for 'Atheists are forshit' :D & NP

Poli, I've long since lost count of how many times I've heard "But no true Christian would do {action x}." From Christians, almost always; from atheists, damn seldom.

And I'm very well aware that the WBC is a pack of extremist loons, not representatives of Christians in general. (Thank goodness!) But their message of hating gays is undeniably Biblical, and all too common among right-wing Christians. Doesn't it bother you how much of the organized political resistance to fair legal treatment of gays in the US has come from assorted Christian denominations? (I could almost say "comes entirely from assorted Christian denominations", couldn't I?)
