The best thing Republicans have going for them is, the Democrats themselves

The Democrats have been thoroughly corrupted by corporate money.

Hillary Clinton was totally corrupted by corporate money.

The evil today are the unaccountable corporations. They are the reason we have a third-world health insurance system and are the root cause of many many problems, besides all the environmental damage they are doing.

People need to wake up to that fact.

You're living in dream land. In the US, a politician has to have money to win. That's the bottom line. In 99% of the elections, the winner was the one who raised the most money. The democrats must have corporate money, wall street, and white collar worker contributions to win.

No I am living in a nightmare. One of our own creation.

A minority has created a system where candidates are dependent on money instead of ideas.

A sane society would get rid of all the money raising by candidates and run elections differently.

The candidates do have ideas; ideas about money.

By last night's returns,it sure looks like the best thing Democrats have going for them is the Rethuglicans themselves, and Cheato in particular.

Trump does not age well.

The more you see him the less you like him.

That is why New Yorkers voted heavily against him.

Very true. And I don't see Cheato getting any more popular over the next year. But will that translate into the nation-wide sweep for Dems that they seem to be predicting right now? I don't think so. Uncle Vlad apparently sat out of last night's races, but I'm pretty sure he and his army of trolls and bots will be working overtime in 2018 to preserve the Republican death-grip on congressional power.

Northam hardly beat his opponent more than Clinton beat Trump in Virginia. I think people could be good at compartmentalizing Trump from the Republicans. Heck, it is why they voted him into office in the first place. Republicans are showing they vote for just about anyone with an R after their name. Trump's approval among Republicans has been fishing around 4 in 5, so 80% of Republicans approve of his performance so far, which has been awful, but they don't care, the Republicans stole the SCOTUS seat and Trump rolled back a number of late regulations under Obama. The fact that the shit leader failed to lead to an ACA repeal and continued to shift goalposts on the Republicans and sided with the Democrats on emergency spending... the Republicans, still 4 in 5, support the fucker. It originally was 9 in 10, but honestly, the drop has not been large. Which again means the Republicans will support almost anyone.

Which then leads to the next issue. If everything Trump has done and failed to do hasn't affected his approval among Republicans, it is likely that the Republican voters won't care much about the ACA failure (or pending tax cut failure). And ultimately, it'll come down to turnout of each party.

It WILL come down to turnout. And last night's massacre was due to exactly that. It will be the critical factor in 2018, subservient only to the effectiveness of the coming propaganda tidal wave.
