Hi there. :) This is a continuation of a thread on the previous forum. It's a place to share pieces of art by artists that inspire you. You can also post your own work. I typically find an art piece that I really like to use as inspiration. It keeps me going and breathes life into stagnant areas of my creative mind. I'd love to see what kind of artwork inspires our posters here.

Here's a start. This piece is from a mystery book artist has been hiding exquisite sculptures around Edinburgh, Scotland:

One of mine. I painted this two weeks ago after coming out of an artistic drought of sorts. It was a warm day in Atlanta, so I decided to take advantage of the weather. I set up outside and started contemplating the type of vibe I feel as an artist. Three hours later, this was the result.

The Beatnik - 12" x 12" acrylic on canvas.

I happened upon the paintings of Edward Hopper at about age fifteen when looking for an artist to emulate as part of an assignment. Being a solitary person who enjoys nature, I was initially drawn to his landscapes. I walked away from art in my early twenties and have yet to return to it. It was a couple years back that I thought of him. I have since come to appreciate not only his urban drawings but the solitude of the people he painted. In particular, the women. They show such loneliness and heartache.

It was an early Sunday morning that brought Edward Hopper to mind. During my morning routine of coffee and reading, the sun shown through the window of the adjacent wall onto the godawful deep red paint of the garage apartment I lived in in Ca.

Hon, I was falling sleep on my keyboard when I posted that. You're lucky it wasn't Hades and Aphrodite I typed instead. :p But thanks for catching that.

This is what occupied me most of Saturday afternoon. I was trying to remind myself while I painted it that it's still Spring. This snow won't last forever.

I completely fell in love with Helen Nevett's work. She is listed as UndertheIvy2 on Etsy. I stared at this mermaid for a good five minutes today. :love: This is the "sleeping mermaid.

I could not find the artist for this image, but I use it in meditation to remind myself to relax:

I painted this during a very chaotic time, lots of fighting going on. Stuff like that.
So I just picked up my paintbrush and tuned it out.

"Fire & Ice" - 11" x 14" acrylic on canvas panel. Another of my colorful doodles made during a time of crisis. She's standing in an ice storm, meeting whatever comes at her head on. She absorbs it all, then redirects the fire so that it harms no one.

"Native Daughter" - 24"x 24" acrylic on canvas.

This is a rather large canvas I completed yesterday. The picture unfortunely has some smoky effects in her hair because the sunlight here is too strong to get a decent picture and it's way too dark in the house. I don't have my digital camera here with me, just my cell phone. So no way to compensate for glare.

In any case, this is my idea of zen.

My inspiration of the day. Found this listed in The Elephant Journal, but couldn't find the photographer. I love this. It looks so regal, goddess-like and ethereal.

Thanks for the link! I was trying to figure out who did that piece without success. Also, Grassi's work is epic. Thanks for sharing. :)
