The Difference Between Atheism And Religion

But you do appear to excel in the inflation of your personal sense of your understanding.
Ah, is that what it is. That could be superiority masking inferiority. I, however, don't see it that way of course. I've always thought of myself as average stupid. That may say more about my critics who judge my sense of my understanding than it does me.
Is that so, "Atheist Nightmare"?

It is, indeed, "Contributor."
You alleged great humbleness, yet label your an "Atheist Nightmare". You can't have it both ways. You can't be both a babe in the woods or a force to be reckoned with.

Yet you can be a Calvinistic Atheist? That doesn't seem fair. Metaphorically I'm a babe in the woods, which is an atheist nightmare. And you are a "Contributor" on religious forums talking about me as if I were a god or devil.

Actually you’re just someone who is incredibly full of himself and a total bore.

Yes, because that is humor... obscure, but it is humor.
Metaphorically I'm a babe in the woods, which is an atheist nightmare.
Naw, the atheist nightmare is being late to all our finals.
And you are a "Contributor" on religious forums talking about me as if I were a god or devil.
You appear to be grasping at straws at this point.

Hmmm. Interesting approach. All of my personal trivia is completely serious.

A major difference is the letter A. Theism has no A, while atheism has an A.

True — and that little “A” does a lot of heavy lifting.

It marks the absence of something, not the presence of a competing doctrine. A-theism simply means “without theism,” just like asexual means “without sexual attraction” or amoral means “without moral judgment.” It’s not a system, not a worldview, not a belief structure — it’s a rejection of one specific claim: that a god exists.

Theism makes a positive claim. Atheism withholds belief in that claim until there’s sufficient evidence. That one letter marks the difference between asserting and questioning — and that’s no small thing.

You can read a great deal into theism but not atheism.

The addition of A to theist creating the word atheist is key to understanding the practical, religious, sand philosophical differences and meanderings of theist and atheist.

In logic A means the negation of a condition. Typical formal logic symbols are ! and ~.

F0r example there is political and apolitical.

if p is political, ~p means not political. Apolitical has no affirmative definition, it is rejection of whatever political means.

If F means a belief in flat Earth, then ~F means a rejection of a flat Earth belief. ~F says nothing about a belief in the shape of the Earth.

if T is theism in the affirmative, then ~T is not atheist or 'a-theist'.

I hope this clears up any questions and confusion as to the difference between theist and atheist.

If anyone is interested I will offer private study for the logically challenged. HeeHeeee. Bibles to be checied at the door.

Exactly — and that’s the whole point.

Theism claims something big: that a god exists, often with specific attributes, intentions, and expectations for humanity. From that claim, entire systems are built — scriptures, rituals, moral codes, afterlife doctrines, institutions. You can read a great deal into theism because it gives you a great deal to work with.

Atheism, by contrast, is minimal by design. It’s not a belief system — it’s a single position: the absence of belief in gods. That’s it. It doesn’t come with rituals, dogma, or cosmic claims. It’s a response to theism, not a parallel religion.

So yes — there’s far more to read into theism. But don’t confuse that with parity. The difference isn’t just in content. It’s in kind.

The biggest difference is that they aren't particularly great to compare. It should be Atheism v Theism, not Atheism v Religion.

Atheism is one option of a binary setup. Where as religion is stuffed with rules, dogma, leadership. Atheism is a start, Religion is a destination that "started" at Theism.

Organized atheism ' is stuffed with rules, dogma, leadership.'

With ' Atheism is a start, Religion is a destination that "started" at Theism.' you are spinning the word atheism.

I would never have thought of him as being anything in the woods. Under a bridge would seem like a more comfortable abode.
